:Epilogue:

I sat on my green couch, alone, playing with my blond locks. I woke up this morning to be kicked out of my lovers TARDIS almost immediately. All he had to say is that he had “things” to do. Of course, he said that with a mischievous grin that could only mean he was planning a surprise. To make sure I wouldn’t go snooping, he even locked the door connect are two TARDISES.

So I had spent the day sighing from boredom and frustrated in not knowing what the Doctor was preparing. But I knew that man far too well to not think it was something amazing.

Around the time we usually had dinner, the door finally opened, revealing him dressed in his usual tweed blazer and bowtie.

“Hello, darling,” he smirked. “Up for a picnic?”

“A picnic? That’s what you’ve been up to? There must be more to your secrecy than that,” I raised a brow at him.

“Oh, you won’t loosen my tongue.”

I stood up and walked over to him suggestively before wrapping my arms around his neck and looking sweetly into his eyes.

“Are you sure about that?” I asked in sexy tone before pressing my lips against his and slowly slipping my own tongue into his mouth. He kissed me back for a moment and we savored each other’s passion.

“Nope, that won’t work,” the Doctor grinned once we finally pulled away.

I slumped down a little, giving up the sexy act. It never really did work on him. But to his pleasure, it always worked on me when he did it.

“Fine, let’s go on your silly picnic then,” I rolled my eyes playfully.

When the door was still locked, the Doctor had already travelled to the destination, all there was left to do was to open the exit door in his TARDIS. When we did, I found myself to be breathless.

On the hill near the town where I grew up, here was the place on Gallifrey that the Doctor and I made up after our first real fight. My favorite spot in the entire Universe.

I smiled at the man I loved and with a picnic basket in hand, he leaded me to the boulder where I liked to sit. Next to it, he took a blanket from the basket and spread it on the ground for us to sit together. He also took out two sandwiches and a bottle of red wine. I laughed a little because I knew he hated the taste of wine, but my new regeneration disliked almost any other drink.

We chatting away, enjoying our chicken sandwiches and laughed about the good times we had on this very planet. The mood was light like any other day and the first sun was starting to go down.

Suddenly, the Doctor took my hand in his and I could tell he was a tad nervous. I started to worry, he rarely got nervous.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“I’ve been torturing myself for weeks trying to find the right way to say this. I just want it to be perfect, because you deserve nothing less than perfection. Sometimes I wonder why you even love me and I think to myself that you could do so much better,” he babbled a little.

“Doctor, there’s no one in the world I rather be with. What’s this all about?”

He fumbled a little awkwardly in the inner pocket of his blazer, looking desperately for something.

“It took me a long time to realize it, that’s true. I put you through a lot of trouble and misery without even noticing. That I will always regret. But if you- Blood Hell, where is that damn thing!” he exclaimed, looking in his jean pockets as well. “Ah! There we go!” he added, taking out a little black velvet box.

My hearts literally stopped in shock. It couldn’t be anything else than what I thought it was.

“Now, like I was saying,” he continued before clearing his throat. “If you say yes, I promise that I will never hurt you again. I promise you that I will do nothing but cherish you, protect you and love you with all of my hearts. I promise you that you are the only one I could ever love this much. Say yes and you are mine and I am yours until the end of the Universe. So, Artemis, will you marry me?” he proposed in the most beautiful and loving way a man could ever propose that brought tears to my eyes as he opened the small black box, revealing a gorgeous silver band and diamond ring.

It was amazing, that I was speechless for almost a full minute, just trying to wrap my head around it all. Of course, my answer was yes, but I was having trouble getting it out of my mouth.

“Artemis?” he asked, getting a little worried.

And right then, I let out a huge giggle. The girliest giggle you could imagine. My cheeks bright red, I covering my face in embarrassment. He had been living with the giggling me for over 8 months now, but still I could not get over how stupid I thought I sounded. He loved it, but I hated it.

I felt his hand on mine and he gently brought it down so he could see my face. I smiled at him, slightly ashamed to ruin the perfect moment.

“I’m… I’m still waiting for an answer,” he pointed out, amusedly smiling.

“Of course I’ll marry you, Doctor!” I replied before throwing myself on him, kissing him with everything I had.

And we laid there, in the grass, kissing and cuddling as I admired the shine of the diamond on my ring finger until the sun came up the next day.
