Hey hey readers! I know I said I'd update yesterday, but I ended up forgetting and I had to go to bed really early so I decided not to post :/ Anyways, I got up early today to spend the day as a student in Tourism ^^ I really loved it and I'm pretty sure I want to do that in college, the only problem is that it's only given at a college an hour and a half away from home so I'd have to live in the dorms or get an apartment not far from the school. But my boyfriend is going in Tourism next year for sure (his parents would pay for the dorms) so... We might end up living together! Exciting ^^ Anyways, big step in a relationship and nothing is certain, but I do have a pretty solide plan B.

I hope you enjoy and I love your faces :P

:Chapter 26:

I couldn't say if I ever completely picked up all the pieces of my hearts, even after a year had passed. But I hid it well I supposed. Yes, a whole year after the Angels had passed and I was still there alongside the Doctor as his best friend. And yes, a whole had passed, I was still longing for something more. Something I couldn't have. I didn't why I didn't just get over him. I honestly didn't. He didn't love me, end of story. So why was I still putting myself through this misery? Maybe because I was always around him and it's hard to stop loving someone you see every single day as your closest friend... Maybe.

But I knew I could never walk out of the Doctor's life. That was I absolutely incapable of doing. Not because I loved him, it's hard and painful leaving someone you love, but because I needed him in my life. Separating the Doctor from me... I wouldn't know what to do with myself. He made his way through the wall I put up to protect myself and became the most important thing to ever happen to me. My life without him just wouldn't make any sense.

So there I was, still standing along his side, lying to him about my feelings towards him and faking smiles whenever River dropped by.

Which was hard to do. Despite that fact I had to go through watching the man I love flirt with her and look at her lovingly, River had discovered a joy in teasing and making fun of me. That's why she started calling me Artie even though I hated it. That and my jealousy made it very difficult to like her. But sadly, I had to admit we were a lot alike and I knew a part of me - a very small part of me - would miss her when she'd walk out of the Doctor's life.

And I thought that wouldn't be for a very long time. I was wrong.

The Doctor and I had taken some time off from each other - we didn't have a fight or anything, we just think a little alone time is healthy. It had been about 3 weeks of solitude when that door connecting our TARDIS' opened once again. I looked up from entering coordinates, smiling to see I'm being visited by my best friend. But my smile vanished when I saw his pain filled face that reminded me so much of when he had lost Amy and Rory.

"Doctor, what's wrong?" I asked, hurrying over to and hugging him.

He hugged me back tightly, very tightly, as if he was scared I'd suddenly disappear and he didn't want me to go. He's body shook as he tried to control the sobbing.

"Doctor..." I said softly, trying to calm him down. "What happened?"

His crying persisted for a little while, but he still refused to let go of me like I would run away. I tightened my grip to let him know I wasn't going anywhere. Suddenly, he let go, but held on to my hand. I leaded him to my green couches and sat him down.

"She gone," he finally said. "I've seen her for the last time."

"Who's gone?" I said, not understanding at first, but then I realized and gasped. "Oh, Doctor, I'm so sorry!" and I wrapped my arms around him once again.

"I went through her notebook and mine. Everything was done. There was no adventures left to have. No more spoilers to hide. I asked her how old she was and that's when I knew it was over..." he tried hard to hold back the tears. "Now she is going to go to the Library and die saving my life..."

Now I know why he had so much trouble letting go, he was terrified of losing me. He had lost Amy and Rory and so many others and now River was out of his reach forever. I knew how he felt too well to not understand what he was going through. Even if I didn't like River, I was sad she was gone, but only because the Doctor was in so much pain at the moment. I knew he would eventually get over her and he and I... No! I couldn't think about that at the moment, how selfish of me... I had to think about him, not me.

So I held him tight and kept as he suffered the lost of his wife.

He needed time and that's what I gave him. I stayed by his side, but never forced him to talk about it. I knew he would when he was ready. In the mean time, I waited patiently.

But after about a month and a half, I was realizing he was having more trouble moving on than I thought he would and I had grown tired of his depressive attitude. He wasn't the Doctor I knew and loved and I didn't like it. So I thought that the best way to get him back to normal was to have a little fun.

"Doctor, wake up!" I said loudly, slightly shaking him. His eyes opened slowly and he grunted and rolled over, turning his back to me.

"Get up, I know you're well rested, you've been sleeping for 10 hours," I insisted, shaking him more. "Please, Doctor."

I was almost begging now. He didn't want to do anything today. I went around his bed and grabbed his hands to pull as hard as I could until he was a least sitting up.

"Fine! Fine," he said grumpily. "Happy?"

"Maybe," I sighed.

He pulled the covers off himself and got out of bed. Quickly, he went into his walk in closet to walk out a moment later, dress in his usual tweed blazer and bow tie.

"What do you want?" he asked.

"It's a surprise!" I smiled.

"Great..." the Doctor replied sarcastically.

I held back another sigh. He was so moody. I took his hand in mine and pulled him with me to my TARDIS. He let himself fall on the couches and didn't say a word as I entered the coordinates. A button here, a lever there and we were sent flying though time and space, the shaking making my wind chimes ring like beautiful music - still not enough to put a smile on the Doctor's face. Then it stopped and the chimes slowly became still.

Reluctantly, he forced himself up and he followed me to the door. Outside, the first thing we heard was screaming, but the good kind. The smell of popcorn, cotton candy and corn dogs were in the air. Oh how I loved amusement parks. But the Doctor had more of an annoyed look.

"Come on!" I said, taking his hand again and pulling him with me.

I decided that he needed a wakeup call and only the biggest and scariest ride would do. The "Devil" looking promising. It took about an hour long of waiting in line of me trying to get a normal conversation going and him trying to end the talking. He was being very difficult and I felt like he was pushing me away, opposite of when River died where he kept me so close.

In the ride, he kept his annoyed face and I stayed quiet as we went up and down and left and right. When we got off, I had given up on my idea. We walked back to my TARDIS and I sat down on the green couches.

"Next time you want to try to cheer me up, don't," he said, a little coldly. "Just leave me alone."

And with that, he walked out, the door closing loudly behind him, almost slamming it.
