VOTE TO SHOW YOU LIKED IT IF YOU DID :)
Hey hey! Back from Montreal so... update!
This is saddly the last chapter of Wide Awake :( Again, there will be no sequel. I have to say it again cause people keep asking for one and I want to make it clear. Anyways, I'm really sad it's over, it's kind of bitter sweet for me, you know? Finishing something your proud of is awesome, but then you just want to keep doing it when there's nothing left to be done :/ Yes, I am really proud of this story, I think it's the one I've worked the hardest on and has the best plot and I'm sooo happy with how it came out. Wide Awake is right behind The Doctor's Mistress in my favorite stories that I've writen ^^ And I hope you all enjoyed reading it as I enjoyed writing it.
I hope you enjoy that last chapter and please vote just to show you liked it if you did :)

:Chapter 29:
I guess the next question in my mind was “What now?”
I was unrecognizable and, well, still alive. I didn’t plan anything for after I’d save River Song’s life, because I didn’t think I’d be here. Everything seemed so pointless. And lonely.
I hesitated for a long time wherever to go find the Doctor or not, he’d have both his wife and his best friend by his side again, no reason to be sad. But I pushed that idea away. I supposed I wasn’t completely lying about leaving because I loved him and it hurt. I couldn’t just go back to him and fall back into the same routine of being “the friend” forever. Especially now since I told him exactly how I felt in all honestly, no way of going back. We were probably both better off with him thinking I’m dead.
With that option out of the question, I thought of Gretchen. But she was human. And just like all human’s, she would eventually die of old age – if she doesn’t die of an alien attack first. I couldn’t take that chance with humans anymore. I’d rather leave Gretchen in peace in London and die of old age with someone she loves by her side, who would wish her off with a smile. If I was the one to cause her a premature death, I’d hate myself more than I already did.
There was nothing left for me to do, but travel alone. Completely alone. Oh how all space and time loses it’s magic to someone after 902 years.
I was only after a month that I got up and did something. I needed to introduce the new me to someone very important – and someone I couldn’t hurt more than I already did. When I walked out of the TARDIS, there was a thin layer of snow covering the ground and I could see red, green and white lights on the houses in the distance. The sun was down and loud music could be heard by the near church. It was Christmas Eve.
I came to this time on purpose, of course. I didn’t want Joni to be alone on this day, a few months after her mother, the last to visit her grave ever, passed away of old age. With me, I had a back with some hot chocolate and a blanket. As I walked through the dead, everything seemed so peaceful. I could have lied down in the snow and fall asleep to the Christmas music.
I reached Joni’s tomb stone and set the blanket on the ground to sit myself down. It took a moment before I said anything, my hands were a little shaky with the pain in my chest. But as soon as I uttered the first words, I felt a lot calmer.
“Hello, Joni… I know it’s been a long time since I came here. But I couldn’t let you be alone. You probably don’t recognize me. It’s me, Artemis. I’ve changed a lot, right? I’m blond like you were now, accept that my hair is impossibly straight with zero volume, opposite of your curly mess,” I laughed a little to myself. “I always liked your hair a lot, it was wild and beautiful. Like you.”
