:Chapter 9:
The man in the suit smiled evilly at the Doctor who seemed to be trapped here. Now I realized I was on the bad guy’s side, standing here with a gun on me. The Doctor’s eyes slightly glanced over at me for a second and a little light of hope appeared in his eyes.
“Finally…” the unnamed man in the suit spoke. “Finally! I had trapped the ever so clever Doctor,” he announced happily. “Not so tough now are you? With nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. I’ve got you now.”
“And why may I ask are you, a human, after me?” he asked, keeping his composure.
“I’ve heard of you, Doctor… So many stories and tales. I’ve done all the research, enough to know what you are and what you are capable of! I know that if ever Earth was threatend by… let’s say an alien attack, you would be the first to come running to save the day. I have been given a very important command by up above, you see. You’re eliminated and I will be fine when they come to destroy us,” he explained.
“So that’s what you want? A ticket to safety as the rest of your home planet perishes? That seem a little heartless don’t you think?” the Doctor replied.
“Not at all! The Cylaphiens have showed me a lot to look forward too on their planet. Clean air is one of them. You see, if the Cylaphiens don’t destroy Earth, guess who will? Humans. We live in such a terrible way, throwing away things that could easily be recycled and driving cars. The planet is dying, Doctor. If I let the Cylaphiens grow their own civilisation here, then they could save it!” he spoke so passionately and with such hatred against his own kind.
“But it won’t be Earth anymore if you eliminate the human race,” the Doctor tried to reason. “Take away the people and you’ve only got a rock. The Cylaphiens have a perfectly good planet, big enough for their people, they don’t need this place! There must be another reason for there desire to destroy the human race.”
“No! There is none,” he shouted back.
A heavy silence fell in the room as he turned his back to the Doctor and looked at us, analyzing our faces. I kept mine as expressionless as everyone else.
I didn’t know what I could do to help the Doctor at this moment – I take out the gun and I have 12 more pointed on me, but I knew he was right, the Cylaphiens, a normally peaceful race, had no need for Earth.
I looked over the Doctor while the suited man’s eyes were on someone else. He was also looking at me and the corner of his mouth slightly curled up. I smiled a little back, remembering that faithful night he arrived.
He was the reason I was standing here back as Artemis. He brought importance to the watch I ignored for years. I never really thought about him once I took off in the TARDIS I hadn’t touched in 2 years, but when I saw his face after landing, I needed to see him again, I still had a few questions. But the questions were now solved with his smell… Now completely new ones have appeared. Like how could he possibly be alive? I bet he was wondering the same thing about me.
Suddenly, the room went completely dark. I looked up at the dome window to find the underneath of a Cylaphiens ship blocking the sun. A small trap door opened and the suited man smiled widely. He took out a remote from his pocket and pointed it up. The dome ceiling opened and a ladder came out of the trap door, falling into the room. Soon enough, three Cylaphiens started going down the latter.
“Hello, Cylaphiens! Welcome to Earth!”
“Thank you for the greeting, Mr. Frank,” the first one spoke with its high pitched voice.
Cylaphien wasn’t a tall race. At only 5 feet, there were highly intelligent and well-armed against invasions. Their slimy looking skin was a deep shade of blue and their eyes were big and brown with white. Their hands consisted of 7 long fingers each and their necks were very thin for their big heads. In all, not very pretty.
“Don’t mention it,” Mr Frank smiled to what seemed to be the leader.
“Destruction of Earth will commence in 10 minutes. Has the Doctor been destroyed?” it asked.
The Doctor stepped forward towards them and smiled.
“Hello! I’m the Doctor you wish to kill,” he presented himself. “I have a few questions.”
“And what makes you think I will answer any of your questions?” one replied angrily.
“Because it’s my dying wish, since you are going to destroy me anyways,” he shrugged nonchalantly. “First, your home planet is vast and sufficient for your population that never goes beyond 8 billion. Why take Earth?”
“Earth is the perfect size,” the leader Cylaphien answered.
“Perfect size for what exactly? Tell me please.”
“For the test.”
“Test what? Don’t beat around the bush!”
“A bomb. A Bomb strong enough to eliminate the planet and turn it into pieces.”
“What?” Mr. Frank spoke out. “You told me that you only wished to destroy the people!”
The leader Cylaphien turned to him.
“That was a lie,” it answered before pulling out one of their people’s gun and shooting Mr. Frank in the chest.
