(Y/n's P.O.V)
My eyes widen. My eyes focused on Hunter touching his scar. "Are you telling me that Emperor Belos is the reason behind your scar!" I took slow and limited steps toward Hunter.
Hunter's eyes glanced toward the ground. My expression changes to one of sympathy. "Thank you... For caring Hunter. But Hooty would have told us if any of the Emperor's coven would have stepped anywhere even remotely close to the house."
I tried to reassure Hunter, but a smile stayed on my lips. It was nice that someone other than my Eda cared for me and my safety. "Once Hooty told us, I would have put my Cloak on and left immediately. Eda has several hidden routes all around the boiling isles, How do you think she avoids everyone so well!"
"You're probably right... I was just worried. But since I'm back early would you like to go into town or something? I can change out of this uniform so we don't draw too much attention to ourselves?" Hunter walked over to the closet. He was holding a pair of regular clothes.
Clothes I didn't think he owned. I shrugged "You know what, sure." Hunter walked out of the room. Most likely down the hall to the bathrooms to change. That's normally what either myself or Hunter do to let the other change in the room.
I walked over and locked the door behind Hunter in case he finished changing before I did, then got changed into a pair of sweatpants and a tank top that was given to me by Luz the last time we hung out. I unlocked the door and looked out into the hallway to see if Hunter was waiting outside.
I didn't see anyone, it was rather empty compared to normal, so I shut the door and walked over to my bed to wait for Hunter to finish and come back into the room. After a few minutes of me sitting on my bed scrolling through Pinstagram Hunter finally walked back into the room.
"Are you okay?" Hunter asked. He started hanging up his uniform and placing it into his side of our shared closet. I close my Penstagram and put my scroll into my pocket. "Has anyone told you that you take longer just to change your clothes than a girl getting ready for the day?"
I couldn't hold back the laugh that was fighting to escape my lips when I saw how offended Hunter looked by my statement. "What! I had to fix my hair! Do you know how hard it is to keep my hair looking this good especially after I've been fighting inside of that helmet all day!"
Hunter flipped his hair even though it was short as hell, all while having a playful smile painted on his lips. "Oh, I'm sure. It must be so hard for you to keep your precious short hair looking amazing when pushed into a helmet." I spoke sarcastically as if I didn't have to do the same with my (Hair length & Hair color) hair, into the helmet of my Huntress uniform.
Hunter and I left the castle and were on the way to the town near the palace. We were talking about some of the most random things, no important stuff just stuff about hobbies and talking about our lives before the coven. Mostly mine since I don't believe Hunter has known anything except for the coven and the beliefs of Belos.
Though Hunter did go on a rant about all the research he's learned about with wild magic. I noticed a light in his eyes that I'd never seen before while he was talking about his research. All while having a genuine smile on his face. A sight that's rare to see, even for someone like me who's been in the same room with him every single day since I got assigned to work alongside him.
I found myself just staring at Hunter, a smile on my face as I watched him ranting. "Then I found out tha- Oh, sorry. I'm just rambling..." Hunter cut himself off. He started laughing, a nervous tone in his voice.
"No, No, It's fine. I enjoy hearing you talk about things that you enjoy talking about." I watched as Hunter's cheeks turned a soft shade of pink, he was doing everything he possibly could to avoid eye contact.
A soft laugh started to escape Hunter's lips, his laugh gradually got louder. Hunter covered his smile when I looked over. I quickly started to look around, thankfully no one was around. "Holy shit... Hunter, you've officially lost it, haven't you" I looked back at Hunter.
"Surprisingly no," Hunter said through his laughter. He finally started to control his laughter, at least enough to form a full sentence at least. "It just... That's the first time someone's ever wanted to listen to me rant. Normally people get annoyed when I start ranting about wild magic or anything in general."
"I thought I was going to wait all day for you to stop with your random laughing fit, but seriously. I don't mind listening, your voice is... Calming in a sense." Hunter looked shocked at my statement.
After a few moments of silence, Hunter just stared into my soul, He walked over to me and put out his hand. Hunter was looking down the hill towards the town. "We're almost to the town so we should keep moving. Though I would like to know a little more about you... If you're okay with telling me."
I took Hunter's hand to help me stand up, then let go. We both continued walking towards the town. "Sure, What do you want to know?" His gaze was fixated on the ground. "I've been curious for a while... What was that screaming match about with Lillith?" Hunter's eyes were focused on me.
"Well, Lillith is my sister, we've never exactly got along. Lilith and I have always shared a rather interesting relationship between the two of us. One moment we can be bounding just like any sister, caring for each other, stuff like that." A small smile formed on my face thinking about all the good times Lillith and I have shared.
"The next thing you know the two of us completely hate each other and act as if we have no clue who the other is. As you saw during the argument between the two of us." My smile slowly disappeared while thinking back to the argument.
Hunter suddenly stopped walking, which caught my attention. I looked back at Hunter, a rather confused expression on my face. "Is something wrong?" I walked towards Hunter to close the large distance between us.
"But that doesn't explain why she would be so upset why you were with the Owl Lady while growing up. It's your life and Eda is also your sister right?" I could see the sympathy and confusion on Hunter's face.
(A/n: I was finally able to get around to rewriting this chapter, it took longer than I thought it was going to. But I've been struggling to write recently with things that are going on in my life and just dealing with writer's block. hope you all enjoy the rewrites I've done so far. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish rewriting the chapters I've done so far that way I can continue to write the rest of the story. Love you all and thank you for reading <3 Word count: 1230
