I got so sucked up by the happiness inside me that I forgot my family was here too.
Oh no.
We're going to get in so much trouble.
I slowly turn around while still being on my knees from when I was hugging Matteo.
I look at his stern face which tells me he's waiting for an answer.
I look back at Matteo who looks at me with just as much shock in his eyes as there is in mine.
"So-.." I start and drag the 'o' out a little while.
"So?" Dad asks again in that scary voice.
I look at Matteo and bring him closer to me.
"Little bear, if you want the rest of the family to know than you or I can tell them. If you don't want them to know that's fine too, but let me know what you want" I whisper so only he can hear.
"I-" he stops talking and thinks for a second or two, "they can know, but you have to tell them" he says nervously.
"Okay. You don't have to be scared you know, they will probably freak out a little but it's because they don't want other people hurting you. Just know that that anger isn't towards you but towards those..children, okay" I say to him.
"Okay, stay with me though" he says clinging harder onto my arm.
"I'm always here for you bud" I smile.
I turn towards the family but make sure to get another nod from Matteo that I can say this to the others.
When I know for sure that I have permission I start talking, "we have to talk in the living room, where we can sit down" I tell them.
The painful throbbing in my thigh sees to get worse by crouching down on it, which makes sense but it's just a little annoying.
The others agree to my suggestion to sit elsewhere and we all let the need to torture answers out of some men leave us for some time. This is more important, the need to know what made Matteo so upset is more important for us all then getting answers out of the prisoners straight away.
No, but Jaxon.
This isn't the real Jaxon.
Oh fucking hell, can for once in my life things go according to plan.
Well there isn't anything that I can do about it now. If I try to get Jaxon away than questions will be asked which will put the real Jaxon in danger.
I stand back up but pain shoots up my leg when I stand on it so I quickly shift my weight to my other leg while a small cry escapes my mouth before my brain can even register the fact that it was stuck in my throat.
Matteo, the smart little guy that picks up on everything, of course notices.
"You're hurt" he states worried.
"Oh, it's just a scratch" I tell him.
"What happened?" He asks while holding one of my hands
"I fell while running in P.E." I tell him.
It wasn't a total lie, I mean I did really fall during P.E., but this pain isn't from that.
For some weird reason he always seems to know when I'm lying or half lying but even though he notices my half lie, he doesn't comment on it.
We start to walk to the living room while he walks close to me, closer then normal.
Like if my leg would give out, he'd be able to catch me.
It's really sweet and thoughtful, but if I would really fall than I'd crush him.
Walking in the living room, I sit down on a sofa while I help Matteo climb up my lap.
We all get comfortable on the sofa before I start to talk.
Matteo lies his head against my chest, snuggling into me.
"Remember when Matteo started acting a little different then usual?" I ask the others.
Everyone nods their head while Matteo just hugs me tighter.
"So when Matteo and I both went on the roof we started talking and I found some stuff out." I begin.
The others again nod their head skeptical, "there were some kids who were bullying Matteo, they were all around 12-13. Matteo was threatened with multiple things so he'd keep his mouth shut about it" I tell them.
I pull Matteo closer to me and rub his back in the mean time.
"What the fuck!!" Alex screams, enraged and stands up.
Whoa
Alex has never been the one to really freak out about things by screaming or getting really angry.
But I guess that now that his little brother got physically bullied, he snapped.
Everyone has different emotions about this. Most are angry and sad but some...some look hurt.
Matteo starts shaking a little, like he could burst out into tears any moment.
"Alex!" I snap, "sit down" I say in a harsh voice.
He's scaring my little bear.
"That's my little brother that is getting bullied right there Val" he snap back.
"That's my little brother too, Alex just like you are and all the rest of you. Matteo and I solved the problem, the bullying stopped" I tell him and the others.
Alex's angry face turns into an emotion I can't comprehend, but he sits down.
"Matteo, why didn't you say something?" His mom, aunt Valencia asks while coming closer to us.
Matteo lifts his head from my chest and looks at me, his eyes are glistening with un-shed tears.
"I just-...I didn't want-" he stops talking for a second when he hiccups and a tear falls down his cheek, "-I didn't want anyone else to get h-hurt. Please don't be mad" he cries.
I cup Matteo's face in my hands, "don't cry, no one is mad at you bud. They're just shocked by the news" I tell him before I pull him in a hug once more.
He continues crying in my chest for a minute or two until his sobs die down and Ellie suddenly waddles inside the living room.
She looks at us all for a few seconds and ends up with directly looking at Matteo and me.
She looks at Matteo's tears stained face who is still hiccuping every now and then.
She continues walking well more like waddling and makes her way over to Matteo.
