Why does Vander always choose the wrong moments to leave? Or perhaps it's not about him leaving at the wrong times—maybe it's me who makes it awkward.

We're just friends, that's it.

I couldn't help but grin at the sight of her, her gaze fixed elsewhere, lost in thought it seemed. "Are you alright?" I asked, noticing how she had drifted into silence. It was hard to pinpoint exactly what it was, but something about her behavior had felt off—distant or perhaps just different when it came to how she was acting around me.

"Hello, Vi," I said, trying to get her attention. "Do you need Vander again, I can go fetch him for you if you'd like." I asked, ensuring she was feeling alright. But before I could continue, she started speaking.

"No..uh, I'm fine," she replied, clearing her throat as she glanced at me before quickly looking down. She was adjusting the bandages on her hands, though there wasn't much that needed fixing. Well, I suppose she knew more about this sort of thing than I did.

"Oh, okay," I responded, a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips. I lowered my gaze to the ground from a moment, then stood up, taking a deep breath. "Alright, if you need anything, I'll be upstairs with the others." I began to walk towards the stairs when she finally spoke.

"Do you know what you do that affects me?" She asked me.

I turned around, feeling a wave of feelings wash over me. Please don't do this right now, Vi. I had no idea where this conversation was headed, but if was going in the direction I feared, I'm not ready.

"I'm sorry?" I awkwardly laughed at her, uhh where's Mylo? The boy is never here when I need him but when I don't need him he's here. Lovely.

"You heard me the first time love." She stood up from the couch and walked towards my direction.

A surge of panic struck me as I took a step back, trying to piece together what I might have done wrong. Was it when I tried to push her out of harms way? I asked myself, my mind racing, without regret for that action. Or perhaps when it was when I hashed out at Mylo? The thought swirled around in my head, as I continued to back up. My back met the wall, and I was trapped, unable to escape as she kept walking towards me.

Her words hit my chest, sinking deeper.  "You had me thinking you were in grave danger, I didn't know how to help you." she continued, her voice unsteady. "You tried saving me from my stupid decisions."

"Vi, it wasn't as severe as you're making it out to be," I said, trying to keep my own voice steady. "It was a matter of either me enduring it, or you, and I choose myself." I paused, my gaze shifting as I struggled to find the right words.
