"Vi... Violet," she corrected herself quickly. I paused for a moment, catching the slip but saying nothing. She always seemed hesitant to call me Vi, though I never pressed her about it. For whatever reason, she preferred my full name, and I respected that. Respected her.

But not right now.

"You can't be serious," she said, her voice tinged with frustration as she rushed to my side, trying to block my path. Her eyes were wide with concern, and for a moment, it almost felt like she was begging me to reconsider. "This is Sevika we're talking about."

I didn't stop walking, didn't even look at her. My mind was already made up. "I'm most definitely serious, and you know that." My voice was clipped, my patience thin. "It's an easy in-and-out job. What could she do? She's old now—slowing down. Practically outdated."

Her expression hardened, her voice low and insistent. "I'm warning you now, the Sevika from seven years ago? She's not the Sevika you're about to face. She's... evolved."

I scoffed, finally turning to glance at her. "Yeah, well, what else would you expect from a fucking traitor?" The venom in my voice was impossible to miss. "Look, just stay here by the wall and wait. I don't need you in there messing this up."

Her eyes narrowed, anger flickering behind them. "Violet, listen to me—"

"Stay here," I repeated, cutting her off. My tone left no room for argument. "This is my call. Sevika and I have unfinished business, and you're not part of it."

I turned away before she could say anything else, clenching my fists as I walked off. Every step closer to Sevika brought the past rushing back—her betrayal, Vander's death, the lives shattered in her wake. Seven years might've passed, but some things don't fade. Some scars stay fresh.

And Sevika was about to remember why.

And so she listened. I looked around the corner and there she was. Sitting playing cards and acting like everything was the same like before. I hate betrayers, and when they betray who I love, I won't take it that easy.

Violet approached Sevika with the confidence of someone who had already won. Her strides were steady, her jaw set, and her fists clenched as if she'd been waiting for this confrontation for years. Sevika, completely unaware of the storm headed her way, was too busy basking in her recent victory.

"Rotten luck boys-" Her face was full of proudness until she was cut off by the sound of Violet punching her in the face. The coins fell onto the ground as both of the men gasped and hurried to collect it. They ran away.

Sevika staggered but caught herself, her face a mix of shock and recognition. She blinked, as if she were staring at a ghost. "Vi?" she muttered, her voice carrying disbelief as she stood to her full height.
