The deaths continue to accumulate, one after another, steadily rising to a breaking point. With each passing moment, each blink of an eye, another life is lost. When the shot rang out at the Piltover council, it was as if the world itself held its breath—an eerie silence fell over everything. In that instant, normalcy shattered. No one was ever quite as they appeared, and no one would ever be the same again. I wasn't, and I am not.
The weight of that moment lingers, its consequences flew through everything, altering the course of lives in ways we could never have imagined. Chaos in Piltover.
Everyone's objective is to kill Jinx.
Caitlyn's main objective.
But everyone lost somebody at some point. And everyone wants to kill everyone. What's new?
I've lost motivation for nearly everything. If I'm being entirely honest, we're all going to die in the end. I'll admit, I'm somewhat at the deep end right now. Violet is somewhere in the middle, not quite as far gone as I am. Caitlyn, however, is entirely immersed in the deep end, she's beyond saving, a goner it seems.
But again, she's lost her mother.
I find myself following Vi like a lost puppy, which is precisely why I'm at Caitlyn's house with her now. I can't help but feel that we shouldn't be here, especially since Caitlyn's father isn't particularly fond of us, or more accurately, of Violet. Personally, I haven't done anything wrong, really. Then again, I rarely seem to do anything at all, whether wrong or right.
I leaned against the wall as Violet appeared to be listening in on their conversation, though she wasn't truly hiding—she was simply waiting to be acknowledged. I couldn't shake the feeling that we shouldn't be here at all. Not that I particularly wanted to be here, or anywhere else, for that matter. Where would I even go?
"What is she still doing here?" I heard Caitlyn's father remark, his voice edged with frustration. I could easily picture the expression on his face—a mixture of anger and resentment. And yet, could anyone truly blame him? He lost his wife because of Violet's sister, that kind of pain doesn't simply fade.
Only then did Violet turn and walk away, her face set in an expression I couldn't quite decipher. I had no choice but to follow. "I think we should leave," I muttered, trailing a few steps behind her. "It's clear we're not wanted here." We walked in silence until we reached a large window, where she suddenly stopped.
"I'm not leaving here without speaking to Caitlyn," she said firmly. Then she glanced back at me, her voice resolute. "We aren't leaving."
Footsteps echoed behind me, drawing closer, yet I couldn't bring myself to turn around. I could already picture her expression—grief and frustration, her sadness seeping through every movement, with a trace of anger. Deep down, I knew that seeing her in such pain would be too much for me to bear, and I suspected Violet felt the same. But only Violet had the courage to face her, to meet her gaze directly. Eye to eye. Even through tears and raw emotion.
