I watched as the man pointed the gun at her. His face was just blank, he didn't show any emotion what so ever.

Shots were fired.

"Stop it—No!"

I ran towards them as so did the firelights. The man pointed the gun at Caitlyn as she stood. One of the green insects had landed on one of the man's gun.

I quickly dropped to my knees, my heart racing as I checked on her, relief flooding me when I saw she was conscious.

"Why does everyone want to kill me?" y/n muttered, her voice tinged with frustration as she glanced over at Ekko. She stumbled toward him, checking to see if he was okay. He was out cold, but his chest rose and fell with steady breaths, which brought a small sense of comfort.

I breathed out a sigh of relief, shaking my head as I helped her to her feet. "I don't know, cupcake, but let's not make it a habit, alright?"

She nodded, her expression tense. We both turned around, only to be met with a thunderous shockwave that seemed to hit us all at once.

"Right...Holy shit—!"

Before we could react, a deafening explosion split the air, the sound so loud it felt like a bomb had gone off right next to us. The sheer force of it knocked us all to the ground, our bodies flailing as we instinctively pressed our hands to our ears to shield ourselves from the unbearable noise.

For what felt like an eternity, all I could hear was a high-pitched ringing in my ears, as though my brain had short-circuited from the sheer intensity of the blast. The world seemed to slow down, every second dragging on longer than the last, until—finally—silence. The ringing in my ears slowly faded, leaving a hollow, unsettling quiet in its wake.

I lifted my head cautiously, my vision blurry at first. Then, the smoke rolled in—a thick, green haze that began to choke out the familiar sights of the bridge. The firelights that had once dotted the sky had vanished, replaced by the eerie fog that now clung to everything. It was like the world had shifted, and we were left standing in the remnants of something catastrophic.

Caitlyn groaned, her body still on the ground as she slowly pushed herself up. I could see the strain in her movements, the impact of the explosion still coursing through her. y/n also managed to get to her feet, though she looked just as disoriented as the rest of us.

"What the fuck..." Caitlyn muttered, her voice barely audible over the fading hum in my ears. Her face was a mixture of confusion and anger, her gaze darting around, trying to make sense of what had just happened.

I looked up to see one of the enforcers, he tried to say something as his blood covered the back of the railing. "Tell..tell.." "my daughter..that..I.."
