"Leave it," she said urgently, assisting me to my feet. We hurried towards the balcony. As we reached the balcony, an explosion reverberated through the air, the sound ricocheting in both of my ears, leaving a ringing sensation.
She had pushed me out.
Claggor reacted with speed, grabbing me firmly as the ground beneath us began to tremble. The floor around us cracked, threatening to give way. We ran towards safety, narrowly avoiding the collapsing debris. As we moved, the walls that had once stood strong fell in with noise and dust.
"Watch out!" A shout came from below, the voices of the enforcers echoing up through the chaos. Thick smoke around us, obscuring our vision and choking the air.
I gasped, coughing violently as the particles filled my lungs. "Shoot," I muttered through the coughing fit, wiping my eyes in an attempt to clear away the stinging smoke. When the haze began to settle, I turned to Claggor, a sense of panic rising in my chest. "Where's y/n?"
"y/n?" I called out, my voice rising in desperation as I took a step toward the smoke. But Claggor acted quickly, grabbing my arm and pulling me back with a firm grip.
"Let me go, Claggor!" I protested, my heart racing as the fear of losing her was rising.
Through the haze, a faint sound of muffled coughing reached my ears. My pulse quickened. Then, emerging from the wreckage of the collapsed room, she appeared. Her hair was dusted with debris from the crumbling structure, her clothes with ash. Powder, who had been near the entrance, rushed to her side, offering support.
It was then that Claggor, seeing her safe, finally released me. Without a moment's hesitation, I rushed over to y/n, my arms wrapping around her in a tight embrace. She hesitated for a brief moment, perhaps still disoriented, before her arms slowly came around me as well.
In that instant, the overwhelming tension that had gripped me since the explosion began to dissolve. The weight in my chest lifted. A sense of relief washed over me, as if the air itself had lightened.
Suddenly, the blaring sound of alarms shattered the tense air, a signal for us to move. "We have to go, just run!" I shouted, already sprinting ahead but making sure to keep a glance on y/n, ensuring she was still on her feet.
We leaped from the edge, landing on the street below, our feet pounding against the pavement as we move on forward.
"Stop right there!" A voice shouted from behind. One of the enforcers had spotted us and was quickly closing the distance, his footsteps echoing in pursuit.
"Faster!" I urged, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I slid down the railing, the friction of the metal biting into my palms. Behind me, I heard Powder's frantic scream as she followed, with y/n right behind her, mirroring my every move. The sound of boots hitting the pavement was growing louder, and I knew—no matter how fast we were, they would soon outpace us.
