"I've told you, I don't want to do anything special for Valentine's. Let's just chill at mine, watch a movie or something," I tell Harry for what seems like the hundredth time today.
"Yeah, but are you saying that because you want me to actually surprise you? Is this reverse psychology or do you literally not want to do anything?" He presses, and it's almost adorable how hard he's trying figure out what's going on.
"No, I'm actually being genuine. It will be nice with no pressure, just a normal day together. That's all I want," I smile, and I'm telling the truth. I've heard lots from Freya and Simon who are both doing extravagant things with their boyfriends and girlfriends, and it made me realise I couldn't be bothered to do that, despite Harry and I not dating.
"Alright. Only if you're completely sure. My day is free, if you change your -"
"Harry," I laugh, patting his chest. "Me and you here together is all I need. I promise," I grin, pressing a gentle kiss towards his lips.
"Okay, okay. A day with just us, sounds nice," he says, murmuring into my hair, pressing small little kisses as he does. It's quite romantic, with all things considered. Especially since we'd agreed to take it slow this time, it was nice, both of us just here in the moment.
"Exactly. And it gets even better when I tell you that we're going to have a Marvel marathon," I say, switching on the TV and connecting it to my phone.
"Is this a bad time to tell you I still haven't watched any of the Marvel films? Well, except for the one that came out just now, Spider-man," he says, and it only makes me more excited to watch the films with him, knowing it's his first time.
"Okay, well, we'll watch it from the beginning and that way, if you get confused, you can just ask me what's going on," I tell him, watching as he pulls the blanket up and over his body, up to his chin.
"Alright, I'm ready. How many Marvel films are there? Will we watch it all today?" He asks, rather naively.
I laugh lightly, shaking my head. "Too many to count. And no, we probably won't finish it today, but we can make a good dent I reckon. Just try not to fall asleep and you'll be good," I tell him, putting the first film on. I snuggle back down with him, and he wraps the blanket around us both now, so we're cosy.
"Happy Valentine's," he whispers, just before the film starts.
I'm too comfortable to move, but I smile in the position I'm in, whispering the same thing back. He snakes his arm around so it's surrounding my neck and shoulders, and like a comfortable pillow to lie on. His arm must be going dead, but he doesn't move it, so I let it stay there.
I don't want to move from this position - and it's a perfect way to spend Valentine's day for me. Nothing too much, but enough for it to be noticeable. It's sweet that he wants to spend the day with me in the first place.
"Hey, Harry?" I ask, interrupting some of the film. I feel his head move, turning away from the TV to listen to what I had to say, even if I was facing away from him.
"Mhm?"
"Thank you for this. I'm going to have a great day."
And a great day I had. By ten at night we had powered through five movies, and I was exhausted. I must've fallen asleep once, because I definitely remembered waking up to the sound of a fighting scene on the TV.
