"I don't know who's fucking in there, but some of us have to piss." an impatient voice spoke from the opposite side of the door, causing me to freeze in my spot.

My entire body froze like a statue for a solid 30 seconds before I turned around and opened the door, revealing the long-haired stranger from the bar waiting on the other side. He had a familiar look about him. He wore a button-down shirt, only buttoned about 3 up which showed a generous amount of his chest as the necklaces strung around his neck grazed his tanned skin. The shirt was paired with black skinny jeans and a nice looking pair of Chelsea boots. I must have zoned out for a few seconds, just taking him in, but what he said next snapped me out of my gaze faster than anything else could have.

"Mary Jane? Mary Jane Matthews?!" he exclaimed as his eyes studied my face.

How the hell did this guy know who I was? How did he know Mary Jane as opposed to knowing MJ? I could have fallen into a panic attack right in that moment, until I saw his lips part to explain himself. He had obviously registered that I wasn't aware of his identity as I sputtered just trying to respond.

"MJ, it's me, Jake. Jake Kiszka?" He said the last part more like a question, like it was some sort of test that I was expected to study for for days prior.

As soon as the face and name combined and registered as one in my head, my face lit up with a large, toothy smile. That was rare for me, but it's not every day that you reunite with your best friend from high school. "Oh my god Jake, what are you doing here? How have you been It's been so long, how is ev-" I began to ramble as he chuckled softly and cut my words  off with his own. "Not much has changed, huh. Still the nervous little MJ that I'll never forget." he smiled, as though he had been looking upon a memory, his comment making my cheeks flush a rosy pink color.

To say I was shocked to see Jake is so much more than an understatement. It had been 6 years since I last saw him, nearly to the day. He looked so different now, though familiarity still shined through his matured featured. His bone structure was more prominent now, and his soft brown hair was about shoulder length, lighting grazing his collarbones as they popped through his unbuttoned shirt. I had done it again, not realizing how awkward I had made the air between us as I studied over his features, being snapped out of my own thoughts by the sound of Jake clearing his throat.

"We should catch up, maybe outside of the men's bathroom, though." He said through a light smile as his eyes connected with mine, "what are you doing in here anyways?"

"Oh, right, well you see it was just really loud out there and I've had a couple of drinks and-", he cut me off again to stop my rambling, "you got overwhelmed." he finished for me as I nodded my head. "I'll catch you out at the bar though, I would love to talk more." I stated with a smile before walking through the door and back into the hectic night club.

What the hell? In what world would Jacob Kiszka be running into Mary Jane Matthews 6 years after seeing her for the last time, in Nashville? What were the odds? Were his brothers there as well? How did he recognize me so quickly? I had changed almost everything about myself since high school.

My thoughts were interrupted by the seat next to me being filled, Jake's brown eyes finding mine again and making my stomach tie itself into knots. One thing was certain, he got hotter.

"What are you doing here in Nashville?" he questioned as the bartender brought me another drink. I quickly thanked him and looked back to Jake.

"I've been here ever since I went to live with my grandma, back when I left Frankenmuth. But I could ask the same to you." I flashed him a questioning look over the rim of my glass as I went in for another sip.

He chuckled at my look and messed with his own glass in his hand, "I actually live here now, the band is kind of taking off so we moved down here to headquarter out of the city of music." he stated simply, gesturing around when he said the last bit.

The band? The band! It had almost fully slipped my mind, Jake and his brothers, along with Danny, formed a band, it was right as she was leaving that they started to take it seriously.

"Oh my god, you guys are still playing music together? That's amazing Jake, I had no idea" I say, fully interested in the conversation, "that band was you and Josh, Sammy, and Danny. Are they still in it? Do they live here too?!"

Jake smiled at my enthusiasm and nodded his head, "We all live a stones throw from each other, Sam and Danny share a place for now. It's just 10 or 15 minutes from here, on the East side."

Just as I went to tell him I also lived on the east side, I felt my arm being grabbed, causing me to turn around quickly.

"My god, Alex you can't do that to me!" I say, placing my hand over my chest as she sends me a shrug. "I've been looking for you, you have to come dance with me! Don't leave me all alone!" she yelled over the loud music.

I shot Jake an apologetic look and he sent back an understanding nod, looking me over as Alex pulled me away. The words he mouthed to me next had shocked me,

"Happy birthday MJ"
