(Ha, Serena! I have the mic, did you really think you could just take over? Nice try.) Hey, It's Aeolus, I wanted to tell this part because it's Serena's fault and I want you to hear it from a perspective that won't try to blame it on everyone else. So yeah, Serena gave that whole speech on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday passed without incident, but when Thursday came around- well let's just say things got complicated, but I will get to that later, I want to enjoy having the microphone while I can. Over the week we had learned a lot of Spanish,Irish, and Egyptian. Mostly insults in Irish, but it was still pretty cool to learn new languages, especially since we wouldn't be going to school anymore, at least, most of us wouldn't. Cruz and Elena were going home to their families after all was said and done. The twins had both done really well in hand to hand and weaponized combat, and Dylan had done really well with his magic training. When Thursday came around, Serena, Dylan, Reggie, and I were going to our separate clearing to train, and we split up, just like on Monday. And for the first hour and a half, everything went fine. But when we tried to work on manipulating light, instead of brightening, the light in the clearing flickered from light to dark. Something tugged at the back of my mind, like a forgotten memory, when suddenly all traces of light and dark vanished and I couldn't see or hear anything. Light suddenly returned to the clearing and both of the twins looked confused. Serena had a look on her face that I had learned meant she was having a vision, which confused me, I thought we had already completed our army. A moment later, she blinked and gave me a concerned look.
We have a problem, the message in my head was so sudden, I jumped. It was a little concerning that Serena could access my mind without me knowing it now.
Whatś wrong?
Whatever just happened, it sped up time, the battle is today.
WHAT?
I know, we don't have nearly enough training, but we don't have a choice. The determined look on her face was one I hadn't seen in a long time. She looked up, and I did the same. What I saw terrified me, the moon was creeping towards the sun, we probably had about two or three hours until the solar eclipse started.
"We need to get back to camp now." I said urgently, Dylan nodded, his previous look of confusion replaced with determination. Serena turned to Reggie who nodded, an identical look of determination on the boy's face. He opened a portal and we all ran through.
Back at the campsite, everyone stood around looking at each other in confusion, when she saw us Nessa's confused look turned to one of annoyance.
"What just happened?"
"Well-" Serena began, but I cut in and said
"Serena convinced Reggie to mess with Dylan's training and their power collision messed with time and now we have to rush off to battle."
"What?!" everyone said it at the same time, and I know this is gonna sound bad, but I almost laughed, the way it sounded reminded me of a tv show. I cleared my throat and said
"I know this isn't ideal, but I know we can do this, we are the strongest elementals in the world. We can do this!"
"Yes, but all of us would prefer not to die. Unless that's just me?" She looked around but nobody said anything. "Right. That's what I thought. We aren't ready for this." I looked around and saw the uncertainty on everyone's faces. I looked up at the sky, the moon was growing closer to the sun. We didn't have time for hesitation. (Serena What are you doing? No-)
Hello all. Aeolus is- taking a little nap. I don't know why he thought he could keep the mic. Hello, Shadow Magic here. So yeah I'm here to tell you this part. And don't worry about Aeolus, he'll be fine. When Aeolus looked up at the sky, I could see his thoughts without having to read his mind. He blamed me for this, but despite that, he wanted to charge into battle. But we both knew that they wouldn't go with us, they were scared. I looked up towards the sky, The moon was even closer to the sun. I had an idea slowly forming in my head. I felt bad, but it was the only way we were going to save the world. I concentrated on the hypnotic pulsation I had used in Ireland, hoping it was on, I touched Aeolus' shoulder, he looked at me, and instead of neutral expression like Nessa, Aeolus had a confused look on his face, I quickened the pulsation, and his expression finally went neutral.
"Go stand with the others." he nodded, and stood next to River, who stood next to Dylan. I turned to them, and all expressions went neutral, except for Aeolus, who was blinking as she shook his head in an attempt to clear it. He really needed a haircut, his hair had grown from his ears to his chin. Definitely the first thing we worked on after the battle. Me? I like my long hair. Aeolus squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, before looking up, and his expression once again went neutral. "We are ready for this battle." I said, trying to keep my voice calm, but inside I was panicking. "We have trained, and you have done well, all of you are powerful, and so are we. In the worst case scenario, we have trained elementals who wield light and shadow magic, the most powerful types of magic in the world. You all trust me, and you trust Aeolus. Fight well, stay strong. We will come out on top." I had been focusing on keeping my voice steady and hadn't realized that Reggie, Nessa, and Khonsu seemed confused, I couldn't speed up the pulsation in my eyes, I didn't want to use mind control on everyone else, but elementals with shadow magic seemed to have more resistance to it. I would fix this once I was done with these three, but I didn't have much time, they seemed to be less and less affected by the magic every second. I put Pax,Cruz,River,Aeolus,Elena, and Donnie in stasis and after briefly glowing blue and orange, they collapsed. I increased the speed of the pulsation in my eyes, and the expressions on the elementals' faces went neutral once again. "We need to go to battle now. What are your thoughts?" The neutral expressions remained as they said in unison
"We aren't ready. We need more training." Great, I had to do this again. Before I could even start talking, Nessa shivered and her neutral expression was replaced with one of anger. Panicked, I lost control of my magic and the Elementals in front of me collapsed, no blue and orange light, they just collapsed, although I could tell they were still breathing. I sighed, even Nessa was asleep. I looked around, and saw Aeolus' notepad, and I remembered something. He had said I could manipulate time, Maybe I could reverse the day to before the time incident. I focused on what I needed to do, and slowly, the people around me seemed to move like a movie in reverse. But suddenly it stopped, with everyone in front of me with neutral expressions on their faces, except, of course, Khonsu, Nessa, and Reggie. Why hadn't it worked? I tried again, but nothing happened. I sighed as once again, the three Shadow magic wielding elementals began to shake themselves out of their trance. Instead of putting everyone else into stasis like I had last time, I increased the speed of the pulsation in my eyes, and all faces went blank.
"Look, you are ready to go to battle, we are going to battle." I stopped the pulsation in my eyes. And slowly, too slowly, everyone shook themselves and instead of concerned looks, there were looks of determination all around.
"Where do we need to go?"
"Not far actually. The Statue of Liberty."
