Superposition - Young the Giant

"I want you to want me. Why don't we rely on chemistry? Why don't we collide the spaces that divide us? I want you to want me."

Lizzie's POV - Day 4 Cont.

I got ready for the pool before Y/N so I went to the back deck and started getting things ready.

I grabbed a couple of towels out of the small storage I had back there and draped them over the back of two reclining pool deck chairs. I walked over to the outdoor stereo and plugged my phone into the aux cord. I started playing my chill vibes playlist and smiled when Live Well by Palace came on the speaker. I loved this song. It always puts me in such a good mood.

I turned around when I heard the sliding door that leads to the deck open and I smiled when I saw her with two water bottles, sunglasses for both of us, and a book.

It made my heart smile at how comfortable she was getting in my house.

She was wearing a simple t-shirt and shorts, but I could tell by how the tie of her swimsuit was sticking out of the neck of the shirt, she had one on underneath.

She looked up at me and smiled and started goofily dancing towards the chairs. I laughed and joined her, sitting right next to her. I was wearing my bathing suit underneath a cover up... It's almost as if we were nervous about being in a swimsuit in front of the other. We wanted to do it, obviously, because we were out here. And it was her idea. But still, nervous, just like a high school crush.

"I love this song." She said, looking over at me grinning.

"Hmm, so do I, actually. It puts me in a good mood." I replied.

"Yeah, me too."

We held eye contact for a little longer than we usually do, just smiling at each other before she offered me one of the bottles in her hand as well as a pair of sunglasses.

I took them with a "Thanks" and we sat next to each other, just enjoying one another's company. I sat there, laying in the sun, loving how the heat felt on my skin while Y/N layed next to me, slipped on her sunglasses, and read her book. She had a pen with her too that I didn't notice before. I wonder why?

As we laid there, listening to the soft music playing on the speakers, I kept hearing a soft murmur coming from beside me. I didn't want her to think I was staring, even though I was, so I slightly turned my head, trying to be as nonchalant as possible. I looked out at her from the corner of my eye under the glasses and I could hear and see her mouth softly mumbling the words she was reading. Hmmm, it was a poetry book.

Why was that attractive?

Every so often, when she read something she particularly liked, she would whisper "wow" and click the pen to write something on the page.

Why was that even more attractive? Was thoughtfulness and an interest in literature a turn on for me?

Of course they were.

I wanted to read what she was writing so badly. Just to get a glimpse into her mind. However, that was not my place and she would show me if she wanted to.

But asking couldn't hurt...

"What are you doing?" I asked, turning my head to face her a little more.

Her head snapped up to mine as if I just pulled her out of her own little world. I felt kinda bad about it actually, but I waited for her response.
