I GUESS I'M IN LOVE - Clinton Kane
"And darling, this is more than anything I've felt before. You're everything that I want but I didn't think I'd find. Someone who was worth the wait of all the years of my heartbreak, But I know now I've found the one I love."

Lizzie's POV
Y/N and I woke up on the couch where we seemed to fall asleep last night. I don't think it was a conscious decision to do that, but I also knew that she probably still wasn't ready to go back to her bedroom.
And yeah, she was not kidding. My back is fucking killing me right now and my heart hurts knowing that this is how she has woken up every day since she got back from LA and even before that.
I unfolded myself from her body, feeling about ten different bones crack as I moved, and stood up to stretch out my aching limbs. We needed to fix this. Even if we just bought a damn air mattress today, it would be better than that couch.
I got up and started walking around her apartment, taking in all of the decorations and trinkets she had in the space. I noticed that there were some open nails in the walls in various places. I let out a sad sigh when I realized that she probably took down some pictures or wall art that reminded her of her past relationship. There also seemed to be random empty spaces around the room, looking similar to how a child looks when they lose a tooth. Just a gap where something used to be.
I heard Y/N groan as she woke up and turned around to face her. She was half asleep and I watched as she felt around for me, making a smile grow on my face. A look of confusion filled her face and she shot up on the couch looking around and breathing heavily.
"Good morning," I spoke up, making my presence known. Her features softened and relief flooded her face as she met my eyes.
"Hey, you're here."
I let out a snort and said softly, "Yeah, where else would I be?"
She shrugged back and replied "I don't know. I didn't immediately see you when I woke up and I worried that I had dreamt everything from last night."
I walked back over to her and sat on the edge of her couch, raising my hand to caress her cheek.
"No, I'm right here. In the flesh."
"Good." She whispered back.
"You need to get up soon so we can meet Evan for breakfast before he leaves. We can't make him late for his flight." She smiled up at me, a goofy smile that made me chuckle. "What?"
"Nothing, just excited for you two to properly meet."
I leaned down and kissed her forehead, not being able to resist. Her excitement was too damn cute. "Me too," I whispered.
——
We walked into a quaint little diner and started looking around for Evan, Y/N's brother. I was kind of nervous, actually.. I knew Y/N was really close with him and that was something I admired. I just, really wanted him to like me for me. His approval meant a lot.
I looked up at Y/N as she spotted her brother in a corner booth near the back of the restaurant. A wide smile spread across her face as she grabbed my hand to lead me to the table.
Evan stood up as we approached and gave his sister a huge hug.
"Hey, Scoot! How's it going?" He asked.
Scoot? That's cute. Must be a family nickname. I heard him say it last night, too but I was still too mad to process it.
"Really, good, actually." She replied smiling and looking down at me.
