River - Bishop Briggs

"Holy hands, will they make me a sinner?"

--

Lizzie's POV

Flashback to earlier that day.

"Yeah, but you're a real-life super hero. All teachers are. I only play one." I meant every word that I said. I've always thought teachers don't get enough credit.

"Thank you, baby, but I think you are in real-life as well. Don't miss me too much while I'm gone."

Like that was possible. I smiled back at her sweet response and watched her run out of the room, grab a banana from the kitchen, and run out the door.

I sighed happily and flopped back down on the bed with a huge ass grin on my face.

I couldn't help but think back to the start of this relationship and how we met. I never make moves like I did that night in the bar. It's hard to explain, but something about her drew me to her. She had this gravitational pull that I couldn't help but get sucked in by. It was scary at first, sure. I had never felt the things I felt for Y/N so strongly and so quickly. I have also never said 'I love you' so quickly either, but it felt so natural and so... easy.

I rolled over, unable to go back to sleep, and grabbed my phone to respond to some work emails. I left LA pretty suddenly and rather unexpectedly, so the production crew was wondering when I'd be back so they could continue filming my scenes. We only had about a month left of filming, so there wasn't much left to do, but they were pushing my parts until the end since I wasn't there. That means that whenever I do go back, I'm going to have some long ass work days.

I got up to brush my teeth, get in the shower, and contemplate what I was going to do all day while Y/N was at school. It was a Monday so she got done an hour earlier which was nice, and she didn't have softball yet since her try-outs started next week, so she would be home sooner.

I went out into the living room and wandered into the kitchen to brew myself a cup of coffee and grab a bowl of fruit from the fridge that I had cut up earlier. I turned the TV on to see Y/N's Netflix account already up, so I decided to click on her name and browse the options on there. I decided to watch some New Girl since Y/N had mentioned it a couple times before and that she absolutely loved that show.

A couple hours into my lazy morning, I had already laughed hysterically at this show at least once an episode. Y/N was right and it's fucking hilarious. After a while, the show became background noise and I was getting a little bored. I decided to scroll through my camera roll because, why the hell not? I smiled to myself as I found some pictures of Y/N that she didn't know I took. There was one of her doodling in her poetry book, one was of her sitting on the hammock with my guitar in her lap when I caught her playing in LA, and my personal favorite, her leaning against the outdoor bar in her bathing suit, sipping on a glass of whiskey. Looking at it made my stomach twist into knots and a light blush to fill my cheeks.

That picture was important to me. Very important actually. So much so that I set it as my home screen on my phone, my lock screen still being the selfie we took outside of the bar on the night we met.

After tinkering around reading scripts and making snacks for an hour or so more, I decided to call Aubrey. It has been a while since I've heard from her and I know she's going to yell at me for my silence the past few weeks.

The phone rang a few times before she picked up with a sarcastic tone.

"Hello?'

"Hey, Aubs."
