-Back to Y/N's Perspective-

It was one of those cold, damp and dreary days. You were walking up to a "disguised" Karli who was waiting by a nearby bike.

You see her glancing over her shoulder every so often to check your progress. You were moving at a glacial pace and you weren't in any rush to speed up for her.

Your hands were in your pockets, you had your head down and as you always were, you were thinking of a way out of this. Thinking if there was a way to get Sam involved without getting him hurt.

You were desperate but never desperate enough to break a promise to Riley.

"Keep that dufus pal of mine outta trouble will ya sweetness?"

His voice echoed through your head on a daily basis. It was like your own constant guilt ridden reminder. Everytime Sam appeared in your thoughts, Riley's voice pinged.

It pained you. It did. Your conflicting thoughts and feelings wasn't something you were new to dealing with. But in the midst of everything you were already having to tackle and figure out, it was an added stress you didn't appreciate.

And Sam reappearing made everything ten times worse...

As you reached Karli, you seen her moping. Leaning against the motorbike with her cheek resting on her fist.

"What's with you?" You ask bitterly.

She gives you that universal are you serious look, like she was trying to convey what happened at the airport was something she regretted.

Remorse. Regret. Sorrow.

Are not words to describe any of Karlis emotional states. She was cold, calculated and manipulative. Her fight could have been justified or even handle better but she went for straight out war and wondered why everyone fought back.

You scoff as she buries her head. "Oh please don't pretend you've got a conscious now Karli."

She sighs, looking at you with teary eyes. "I'm not as cold hearted as you think I am Y/N." She practically whispers out, as she sniffles.

You scoff and shake your head. "Yeah sorry Karli. But no." You stand from resting against the motorbike, running a hand through your hair, running your tongue on your lip before biting your bottom lip out of  frustration.

"That's a little hard to believe when you've just got me to confirm the best points on a building that will cause the most devastation when a bomb impacts it." You shake your head, turning away from her.

"And yet... you did it." She says almost proudly.

Turning back to her with tears stinging your eyes, you stretch your arms out, your stomach twisted at her words, tears begging to fall free.

"I've got no choice Karli. YOU took that away from me 5 and a half years ago remember?."

She laughs, looking down before meeting your teared gaze, with a gut wrenching smirk.

"As I recall Y/N. I saved your life. I'm the only reason that you're alive right now. Don't you forget that." She says menacingly. Daring you to challenge her.

She clearly forgot who she was dealing with.

You scoff, placing your hands on your hips and dipping your head. You were completely defeated, fed up, that was something she honestly thought she had over you... she was about to get a shock.

"And yet you're the only reason I want to die. Every second of every day. I want out of this pathetic existence because of you." You say calmly.

The cool and harsh delivery of the words seem to hit her exactly where you needed them too. You were happy you hit in her gut.

She couldn't even meet your eyes, she looked everywhere but you. She honestly thought you enjoyed living, that you owed her for that. When you did for the first few months.

You were oblivious to what she was doing. When the reality sunk in, it went against every belief system you ever had.  You couldn't bare to live with yourself.

You were glad Riley died and Sam wasn't around to see the fall from grace that you suffered, just in order to survive in a world that was yet again... at war.

You left one war behind. To join another. Sam and Riley would be so disappointed.

You snap out of your thoughts. Pulling a brown envelope from your inside jacket pocket and slam into her chest.

"Anyway here." You spit out. "This is the best point, I'm getting out of here. I can't watch this." You say filled with regret, guilt and panic.

Tears daring to fall as you turn and walk away.

She laughs behind you, twisting your stomach, sending shivers down your spine.

"Have you forgotten? Your expertise on logistics and security means you need to be here to be ensuring our safety when we are leaving." She shouts at you, with such a patronising tone to her words, it boils your blood.

You quickly turn on your heel, marching towards her. Heat rising to your face, your breath shallowing. You grab the envelope and remove the details from it.

You turn the pages to how and when they need to leave in order to avoid any damage to themselves, which was all outlined and detailed on the back.

You slam back down into her chest, grinning sarcastically "right there, boss." You hiss out.

You once again turn on your heel and walk away after giving her the most scowling look you could possibly muster for her.

But once your back was turned to her, the sobbing escaped you, you were overwhelmed with guilt, pressure, fear, regret, loneliness and she was not helping that.

"Don't you be going too far from me Y/N. There's plenty of work for you to be doing once this job is complete. So stay close Y/N." She shouts after you, clearly proud of herself. You couldn't even bring yourself to look at her.

You carry on walking, trying to calm yourself down with taking slow and deep breathes, but it was no use. The feelings in the pit of your stomach wouldn't go away and you couldn't focus with them there.

You sigh as you wipe your eyes "why couldn't I have just been blipped?" You mutter to yourself.
