-Sam's perspective-

Since Bucky proved to be quite (annoyingly) helpful and useful to have with the updoing of the boat, you allowed him to stay with you, Sarah and the boys.

You spent most days for the next couple of weeks working on the boat, him showing you up when you'd sit and struggle with something and he'd come along and easily do it.

Like removing old steel covers, tighten the gas pipes, sanding, he just made everything look like it was a breeze without breaking a sweat, whereas you needed breaks, was out of breath, had sweat marks and had to hide all of that to not seem inferior to the annoying pain in the ass.

One night when he actually stopped and pretended he was actually part human, he sat and had a beer with you.

Except he was interrupting one of the many times you were sat staring at that damned case she left for you.

You take a sip of your beer, your mind was - as always - racing.

Bucky stands up abruptly, catching your attention "Okay, if you're gonna sit there and pout, instead of asking about her. I'm gonna go." he bargains, knowing full well you wanted to ask but didn't know how to.

You chuckle sarcastically "Real subtle man, real subtle." you bite back.

"Well I mean, I could just do my staring thing until you inevitably break or you could-" Bucky continues to berate and annoy you into a corner where he knows you'll break.

And you do.

"Okay I preferred it when you were the broody silent type." just not in the way he was expecting.

"Don't try and tell me she's even bothered about me anyway, otherwise why'd she leave?" but you couldn't let it go. You couldn't comprehend how someone who'd "care" why they'd just leave like that.

Bucky wholeheartedly laughs "No, no, you're right." He abruptly stops and looks at the case "Oh wait, what's that?"

"Man don't" you laugh back "just go."

Bucky holds his hands up in protest "Okay, okay. I'm going but for the record... she believes this is for the best pal." he says with such sincerity, you know she said that repeatedly. Which meant he fought her about this too.

"Yeah. For her maybe." you say bitterly as you look at that case.
