"Y/N? Y/N? What is it?" Zemo asks, with a surprising amount of concern.

"A long time has passed for us to be friends Zemo, so don't." Unfortunately for Zemo your quota for smooth talking and people bending there for you had reached its limit and you were over people turning you into a damsel in distress.

"I don't know what happened, but you look like you need one too." Bucky speaks up from the kitchen island as he pours you a whiskey, alongside his own.

A sigh of relief and a breathe of air leaves your lungs, making you feel lighter. A small weight had been lifted that someone wasn't trying break down every mover you make and try and justify it so they "could help you". "Finally someone who can read a facial expression." You sit at the island."

Sam gets up from the chair he plonked himself on when you got back "you ever going to tell us the issue with us protecting you from Walker?" He's now stood in front of you, close enough you were grazing the endless of your knee against the side of his leg, you could smell his aftershave and it was taking all of your strength to not reach out for him.

"Sam." Bucky husky voice pulls you out of the trance where you contemplating your options and Sam was clouding your judgement. "We need to focus on Karli." You were thankful for that soldier at that moment.

Refocusing your brain your earlier anger returning, you watch Sam zone in on Bucky to respond and before he can. "I've got a better question?" You lean your elbow on the edge of the kitchen island as you take in every bit of Sam. He watches you right back.

You throw the rest of the whiskey down your throat in one smooth motion and stand up, toe-to-toe, inches away from Sam as you whisper "who said I needed protecting?" You rock back on your feet, meeting his eyes and you see him gulp, as his eyes lower to his lips and unconsciously yours do the same thing.

A sudden bang and crash pulls you out of the trance as you see the door is booted open by a very angry and betrayed looking captain America. You instant,y drop your head, having momentarily forgotten about the mess he'd made. "Fucking great."

Zemo, Sam and Bucky's focus all zone in on the sudden intrusion, all of heir faces mimicking each other. Mixture of shit and what the fuck. You could deny it was amusing.

Walker looks directly at you as he smirks "surprise, surprise. Here you are Y/N." His voice was clearly agitated.

Instinctively, all the boys around to meet a walker head on, leaving you - as always - stood behind them. You push through them, but Sam's arm stops you as he stretches it across the front of your waist.

"Walker, listen. I can explain."

Walker takes another step and Sam steps forward, angling himself so he covering you more with his body, the rest of you had his arm "You've gone far enough. Think you need to chill the hell out a walker." Sam spits out, a little more defensively than you'd ever been used to.

"Oh you do? Do you?" John says back, arrogance still flooding out of him.

You can't help the smirk that comes when you watch Sam's entire body tense, so you whisper into his head "Sam, what did I say about always having to be the hero? You're doing it now." You gently stroke his arm that was across you and you watch as his head snaps to watch the movement and you recognise the look of confusion, he didn't even realise he had done it... it was instinct.

He meets your eyes as he looks over his shoulder at you. "I can handle this." You reassure him with a small smile.

Walker then interrupts and makes demands "We had a deal Y/N. You will live up to it. Even if I have to force you."

Sam returns his focus to walker and he tenses once more, stepping more protectively in front of you, and grazing his fingers against your hand as it hung naturally at your side.

"So tell your birds boyfriend to move aside." He glares at Sam, then recentres his sights on you once more "or we can do it the hard way." Once again hitting with the same sadistic smirk Karli presented earlier.

You sigh, it weren't worth the risk to fight Walker in it, so you push Sam to one side and start heading to John, until you're stripped, Sam has now turned to face you and has wrapped his arm around your waist, hooking his fingers into your hip. You smile and gently rub his arm, as you kiss his cheek.

"Listen for the rustle..." you whisper to him.

You watch his breath catch, he gulps and lowers his arm as he blinks the tears that had already pooled in his eyes. You walk past Walker with your head held high.

"Lets go Walker." You spit out as you head out of the door.

"Well, no shock you took the easy option, good choice." His voice grating on your every nerve.
