Backstab Magna

This... this can't be happening! How? What? When? Where? Why? I wanted to ask every question in the universe. Does this mean that Clovis...

I was somehow selfishly relieved. Relieved that Clovis might not be on our side after all, and Magna might have to unfriend him. But... what I hated... was that if Magna found out, he might be heartbroken to have lost a friend. I have to tell him immediately. Surely it wouldn't hurt, right? If I stay quiet, the Magna could get seriously hurt. This is for his safety and the sake of the squad.

I quickly folded the note again, left it approximately where it was on the bed, and ran out of his room before anyone could find out that I was in there. I ran into the living room. Asta and Noelle weren't there anymore, so they probably went outside while I was reading the note. I was thankful, or else they would question me on where I was going. I didn't want anyone to ask me anything, because I might not know how to answer.

I ran outside. The first person I saw was Finral. I walked up to him. "Finral?"

Finral looked at me. "Oh, hello, Luck. How've you been?" He smiled but noticed that I looked urgent.

"Fine. Uh... can you tell me where Magna is?" I asked.

"Oh, I saw him earlier. He should be..." He pointed towards another far area of the outside. "...around there. You'll eventually find him if you go that way. I recall he's talking with Clovis."

Clovis... did he have to be talking to Magna at this time of all times? I don't want to talk to Magna when he's around. "Thanks!" I waved to Finral and headed in the direction he pointed at.

"No problem! I hope you find him there!" He called out to me as I ran to search for Magna. I searched the place to see if I could find him.

Thanks to my great mana-sensing abilities, I sensed Magna and Clovis's mana instantly as I went in that direction. I began to hear their voices too. I hid in the trees and peaked to watch them. I need to tell Magna. But I can't do it in front of Clovis. So for now, I'll keep watching them and then jump in if Clovis decides to do anything to him. I'll have to wait until Magna's alone so I can have the conversation with him.

"There's some spells that I don't use because they're pretty much useless." Clovis confessed.

"I've got spells like that too. Can you show me some?" Magna asked.

"Okay!"

And the next few minutes was just Clovis showing Magna his "super cool" ice spells. I watched, making sure Magna was safe.

"That was cool!" Magna smiled.

"You think so?" Clovis panted.

"Yep!"

"Thanks! Hang on, I need to go get a snack and a drink of water. I'm thirsty. Could you wait here?" Clovis asked.

"Sure." Magna smiled and watched Clovis run off.

Now's my chance! Breathe... inhale and exhale... and go. I felt so nervous. I haven't talked to him in so long. It doesn't feel right anymore. I ran out of the spot where I was hiding. "M-Magna–!" It felt weird saying his name in front of him after so much time.

He looked at me. "Luck...?"

"I... I have to talk to you about something." I began.

"About what? We surely haven't talked in a while." Magna commented.

He's not wrong though. "Yeah... it's about... Clovis." I felt anxious. Where do I begin?

"Clovis? What'cha got to say about him?" He tilted his head.

"He's... not who you think he is."

"Can you just spill it out, already?!" Magna sounded irritated. For some reason, that outburst just made me even more nervous.

"He's... He's planning to kill you." I spilled out. Was that an okay thing to say?

We paused for a few seconds, and I finally made proper eye-contact with him. It was awkward by how quiet it got between us all of a sudden.

"Are you..." I was about to continue when I thought Magna wasn't going to say anything.

"We're thinking of the same person, right?" Magna interrupted.

"Yes."

"Clovis Andino?"

"Yep." There was a little hurt in my voice as I said that.

"What the...?" His voice trailed off.

"I-It's the truth."

There was another pause, but this one was shorter.

"No, it's not."

"What...?"

"How could you say such a thing about him?! He's my friend now! How could you talk about him like that?! You're probably lying on purpose because you're just jealous of the amount of time I've spent with him lately!"

"What? No–"

"We haven't spoken to each other in two weeks and you come crawling back to me to tell me this?! Do you want me to lose my friendship with him?! Y'know what, I don't want to see your face ever again!"
