Aether, being the cinnamon roll he is, decided to follow you and Jean. Venti had decided to go...you didn't know, but you waved bye and wished him well.
Diluc hadn't even left, he stayed at the tavern. It was really nice of him to wave goodbye though.
You actually felt really cheery for once as you strolled through the city. No Bob, no troubles, you could almost pretend that you spent most of your life here.
You liked that thought more than you should've, which was immediately cast down by a boat filled with absolute guilt.
Sighing, you decided to ignore it. You have other, more important things to worry about. For example, focusing on what Jean was telling you about this new part-time job.
Well, more as she had just returned after convincing the lady to give you the job. Which made you feel as if Jean was your mom.
"Alright, [Name]." You were brought out of your musings at the sound of her authoritative voice, your eyes snapping to her figure.
You noticed that she had a lady standing next to her, who was eying you up and down. "Hello! I'm [Name], and I hope that we can get along!" The introduction spilt almost immediately from your mouth as you bowed.
You couldn't help it; it was impulsive as soon as you saw the inspecting look in her eyes, and you wanted to make a good impression.
Rantaro made sure that courtesy to people was a given. Though you did stretch that quite a lot, it was still there.
"Oh! No need to bow- now I feel awkward, mainly because I'm just a waitress, haha. It's nice to meet you, [Name]! I'm Sara." You straightened up and sent her a sheepish smile, a bit embarrassed about your greeting.
Jean's face was twitched into a smile at the interaction before she cleared her throat. "Sara will be the supervisor of your work, [Name]. I hope that you like the opportunity."
You grinned and placed your hands on your hips, radiating confidence. "How will I not like it when I'm working with such a nice person? But also...PAIMON! Where are you going?!"
You had spotted a white blob of hair sneaking to the back of the restaurant, Aether desperately trying to stop her. The latter turned to you, panic clearly written on his face.
"Paimon, what are you doing?!" You ran towards her, grasped her wrist and tugged her back, a pout on her face. "Paimon just wanted to get a Sticky Honey Roast!"
"Paimon, stealing is wrong." Aether reprimanded her as you turned back to Sara and Jean, multiple sweatdrops on your face.
"Sorry about that, some of my friends are...questionable at best." Laughs emerged from Sara as she shook her head. "No, no. It's not your fault. Though, it's time for me to show you how we do things around here... Albeit, they're now a bit different than normal."
You nodded in understanding and walked a bit closer to her, ready to move. She didn't notice, but you turned to Jean and now Aether, blinking as you noticed the latter. You guessed that he must've moved after wrangling the wild Paimon into his pocket.
"Alright, Jean and Aether. I guess this means that I'll see you later, right?" Your voice was tinged with hope as you questioned them, hoping to hear the answer from them. They were your friends, after all.
Aether smiled and chuckled a bit before answering, "Of course, you'll see us again [Name]! Have some faith in us!" Jean nodded after Aether spoke up, his words making you feel a lot better than you should've.
You grinned brightly and wished all of them luck before turning to Sara, doing a quick stretch.
You didn't want to say that you hated the work, but you definitely weren't liking it. Sara was making you run around to deliver a bunch of foodstuffs- which was quickly getting exhausting.
