yeosang woke up the next morning feeling seonghwa's strong arms around him, instantly making his heart race. he turned to face the older, smiling small at the boy's sleeping expression. he waited a couple of minutes before he pressed a few light kisses to the boy's face, ending with a peck to the boy's lips.
"mmm, good morning, love," seonghwa whispered.
"morning," yeosang smiled. "i missed you last night..."
"i missed you too, angel."
yeosang sat up and stretched a bit, seonghwa watching with a mesmerized expression. the older then followed in suit and sat up, wrapping his arms back around yeosang and pulling him close again.
"you're cozy," seonghwa mumbled.
"so are you," yeosang laughed.
"i'm sorry i was out so late... i didn't expect to see you on the couch like that when i got home..." the older apologized.
"no, no it's okay, hwa... i just got worried because you didn't text or anything. you always text..." yeosang explained with a frown.
in turn, seonghwa frowned as well, realizing his mistake quickly. he moved yeosang into his lap so that the boy was facing him and cupped his cheeks, then rested their foreheads together.
"i'm sorry for worrying you, love... mingi, hongjoong, yunho, and i were all drinking so i tried to avoid going on my phone so i wouldn't say or do anything stupid. i meant to text you when i started to sober up, but it completely slipped my mind. i promise i'll remember next time, yeah?"
yeosang nodded, resting his head on seonghwa's shoulder lazily.
"how was hanging with woo?" seonghwa asked, rubbing yeosang's back gently.
"it was good... we've been so busy that it's been a while since we last hung out for long. next time we're gonna have to get all eight of us together though, i miss the whole group being together."
"yeah... that sounds nice. at least you guys graduate soon, yeah?"
yeosang nodded. of their group of eight, only half of them had enrolled in college: yeosang, wooyoung, san and jongho. the other four each had their reasons for not wanting to go to college, some easier to explain than others. for seonghwa, he did want to go to college, but he wanted to live on his own far more, so he opted to get a job to help provide for himself and yeosang instead of going to school.
yunho plain just didn't want to sit through classes anymore, and mingi, being him, followed yunho's lead. the two had always been stuck like glue, and their actions only proved that. everyone knew that mingi was smart and would breeze through college, but he didn't like having to be away from yunho more than necessary.
as for hongjoong, he just plain couldn't afford college, and he was too embarrassed to ask for help paying from anyone, even his parents. he practically lived with mingi, in fact, he was there more than yunho. mingi technically lived alone, but he rarely ever turned down his best friends or boyfriend coming over.
"only a few more months... you know, as happy as i am that i was able to continue school, i'm glad it's almost over. i'm sick of having to sit in classes for hours at a time."
"baby, the most classes you have in a row is two," seonghwa laughed. "you only have one class each other day."
"but those classes are like... two hours! it gets exhausting, hwa," yeosang pouted.
seonghwa just continued to laugh before pressing a kiss to the boy's temple.
"what do you want for breakfast, hm? i'll order."
"let's just have cereal! save some money, yeah? rent is coming up and i don't want you to stress over that."
"love, it's fine. i have plenty of money saved up, i can afford to order us some breakfast."
yeosang shook his head, insisting that they just have cereal to save a little bit. in reality, he knew that whatever they ordered would go to waste, as seonghwa never had a strong appetite when he had been drinking the night before. if he ate too much, he'd end up sick, and yeosang didn't want the boy sick when he couldn't stay home to take care of him. he had an important exam today and if he missed it, he would end up failing the class.
"fine, cereal it is."
yeosang smiled brightly after he had gotten his way and the two boys got up, heading to the kitchen and making themselves bowls of cereal. they ate in silence, holding hands across the table, as seonghwa had begged the younger to do so. after, the boys got ready for the day, then sat on the couch together while yeosang crammed in some last minute studying.
seonghwa sat quietly next to the boy, peeking at what he was doing from time to time and trying his hardest not to smother the boy with hugs and kisses. eventually, seonghwa got up, heading towards the kitchen to grab a snack.
"hwa..." yeosang said softly.
"what's up, baby? everything okay?"
yeosang shook his head, pouting slightly, then put his stuff to the side.
"hug?"
seonghwa smiled and nodded, walking back over to give yeosang a warm hug.
"you're going to do great, love. i believe in you, yeah?"
yeosang nodded.
"what time's your class again?"
"two."
"you'll be fine, sangie. take a break and come have a snack with me."
"okay..."
so the two walked into the kitchen and grabbed a snack, talking nonsense as seonghwa tried to help the younger destress.
if there was one thing that seonghwa knew he was good at, it was cheering yeosang up... or at least he thought he was.
