yeosang sat staring at the phone, hoping and praying he would get a phone call telling him he had gotten the job at any minute. it had been two days since his interview, and the woman had said he should expect an answer within 72 hours. so here he was, sitting on the couch, staring at his phone the same way he had been since he first got home from the interview.
"sangie... time's gonna pass slower if you sit there waiting for them to call, y'know," seonghwa reminded, walking over and sitting down next to yeosang.
he gently wrapped his arm around the boy, pulling him close, then kissed his temple.
"let's go out and do something."
"but what?"
"i mean... it's not exactly exciting, but i have to go grocery shopping. you should come with me."
yeosang just nodded, still staring at his phone.
"okay... give me your phone and go get changed..."
"but—"
"sang..."
yeosang huffed and handed seonghwa his phone, then went to their room to change. during this time, seonghwa took the chance to peek at yeosang's lock and home screens to see if they were still the same pictures, as he knew how quickly the boy tended to get bored. he rarely ever went onto yeosang's phone without him knowing, and when he did, it was primarily to take selfies to surprise the boy or look through his gallery to see what pictures yeosang had taken in secret. he never went into the boy's texts unless he was asked to respond for yeosang, he didn't feel like that was something that a good boyfriend should be doing.
seonghwa smiled small when he saw that the younger's home screen was still a picture from a day trip they had taken a few months before, but he had changed his lock screen to a picture of the two from his graduation. he held down on the screen, knowing how much the boy loved using live photos on his lock screen, watching the short video play of the two looking at each other with love and then seonghwa kissing yeosang's forehead.
yeosang walked in quietly, seeing seonghwa smiling down at his phone, and he immediately knew what the boy was looking at. it wasn't uncommon for seonghwa to look at the boy's lock screen when his phone was left with him, and that was one of many reasons as to why yeosang changed it so often. he walked behind the couch and wrapped his arms around seonghwa's neck, kissing the top of the boy's head.
"i'm ready, hwa..." he whispered.
"you look beautiful," seonghwa said as soon as he looked at the boy.
"thank you, love..."
"let's head out, yeah?"
yeosang nodded.
"can you hang onto my phone? i-i don't want to be tempted to look at it when it's not going to change how long they're taking..."
"of course i can... anything for you, baby."
the two got their things together and headed out the door, getting on their way to the grocery store. yeosang was a bit restless, but seonghwa was completely understanding. the younger had worked hard to prepare himself for this interview and opportunity, he would be devastated if he didn't get the job.
as they walked down the aisles and got the things they needed, seonghwa softly sang along with the music that played in the grocery store. yeosang smiled at this, taking in the moment. spending this time with the older was so special to yeosang, it didn't matter how small the event was.
"hwa? can i have my phone back...?"
seonghwa stopped in his place and raised his eyebrow, confused as to why yeosang had changed his mind.
