the second the ceremony ended, yeosang found seonghwa and his parents in the crowd, running over with a smile on his face.
"yeosang! congratulations, sweetheart!" seonghwa's mother said with a smile.
"t-thank you, ma'am... i-i had no idea you guys were coming..."
"oh, i was on the phone with seonghwa earlier and he mentioned that you were graduating today so we wanted to come and support you! after all, you are like a son to us."
"thank you... it really means a lot to have you both here."
seonghwa smiled and pulled yeosang into a hug, kissing him on the cheek as they pulled apart.
"here's a little something from the two of us... we would've gotten you something more if we had known before today!" seonghwa's father said, handing yeosang an envelope.
"oh goodness... thank you. the fact you guys got me anything means so much. what it is doesn't matter to me as much as the fact that you guys took the time to get me anything. i'm very grateful."
"ahh, our seonghwa chose a good one. well, we should get going!"
"it was a lovely ceremony, yeosang. congratulations again, we'll see you both soon!"
the two adults walked away after hugging yeosang and seonghwa, waving as they did. as soon as they were out of sight, seonghwa kissed yeosang passionately, smiling just slightly against his lips.
"i'm so proud of you, love... you did it... you graduated."
"y-you invited them?" yeosang asked softly, staring off towards where the older's parents had gone.
seonghwa nodded.
"i know how hard big events like this are for you...since they love you like you're their own... i figured that would make this the slightest bit easier. they'll never be able to replace your parents, i know... but every now and then they can fill in. especially for the big moments like this."
yeosang smiled small, feeling incredibly grateful that seonghwa was his person. not everyone would be so thoughtful, but he got lucky enough to have someone who was.
"thank you, hwa... it means the world to me that you invited them. a-and it means a lot to me that they came too... they didn't have to."
"they wanted to... they love you almost as much as i do, sang."
"i love you so much..."
"and i love you more."
"thank you for always being my number one supporter."
"ahh, i always will be. c'mon, let's go see our friends."
yeosang nodded and gently took seonghwa's hand, then the two went over to their friends.
"where's jjong?" yeosang asked, noticing that the youngest of the group wasn't present.
"he's with his family right now!" mingi said happily, in the midst of hugging san.
"sangie! congratulations, we're so proud of you!" yunho shouted, hugging yeosang tightly.
"thank you, yuyu... woo, did your family already leave?"
wooyoung nodded.
"kyungmin has a soccer game! they gave me something for you though!"
"w-what?"
wooyoung pulled out an envelope from his bag, handing it over to yeosang.
"here. they wanted to give it to you themselves, but they were in a rush and didn't want to interrupt your conversation with hwa's parents!"
