the weeks following wooyoung, san, and jongho coming over for dinner felt the slightest bit easier for both seonghwa and yeosang. there seemed to be some kind of understanding between them that seonghwa and jongho had really talked about everything, and even if it hadn't been completely solved, the two were on better terms. this was relieving to yeosang, and left him feeling much lighter.
the boy was in the dining room, sitting and writing out some choreography to teach the kids the following week in his notebook, his head resting on his hand as he wrote. seonghwa was still at work, at least to yeosang's knowledge, and things in the apartment were quiet. it was a kind of silence that yeosang enjoyed, where he wasn't drowning in his thoughts.
as it grew later, yeosang yawned, but continued his work, wanting to stay awake until his lover returned home. the second he did, however, yeosang regretted staying awake.
"hey, hwa... how was work?" the boy asked, still staring down at his notebook.
"got fired," the older mumbled, throwing his things down.
at the sound of the boy's bag hitting the ground, yeosang flinched and looked up, now realizing the boy was intoxicated.
"hwa... babe, you should've called me... i could've tried to make you feel better."
"would've been useless," seonghwa huffed.
yeosang put down his pencil and sighed, standing up and walking over to where seonghwa stood.
"love..." he whispered, gently reaching for the older's hands.
"d-don't touch me!" seonghwa shouted, shaking yeosang's hands off of him.
"fine... that's fine... can i get you anything to eat though? or maybe some water?"
"i'm not a baby, yeosang. i'll be fine."
yeosang sighed and nodded, walking back to his notebook.
"well i'm here if you want to talk or need anything from me..."
seonghwa stayed silent, making his way to their bedroom. yeosang frowned at this, quickly calling wooyoung.
"hey, woo..."
"sangie... is everything okay?"
"mm... not exactly."
"what did seonghwa do?"
yeosang rolled his eyes at the boy's question, sighing.
"it's not what he did, it's what happened to him... he got fired, woo... i'm worried about him and he's not letting me help..."
"sangie... sometimes people need their space, okay? i know hwa's almost always gone to you, but after the past few weeks or so, so much has happened that maybe he's afraid that he's going to upset you. he'll come to you when he's ready, okay?"
"mmm... i guess... i-i just... he showed up drunk and it really scares me that he's letting himself go like this. it's okay to get drunk, i know... but when he's in this mindset? i get scared that he's going to do something he'll regret."
"you trust him, yeah?"
"of course..."
"okay... let him be and trust him for now."
yeosang nodded, muttering in agreement.
"thanks, woo... i-i'll see you monday?"
"bright and early. call me if you need anything before then though, yeah?"
"wait, before you go... how's jjong been? haven't heard from him in a couple days..."
"he's been okay, honestly... or as okay as he can be, at least. he went home for the first time to see his mom yesterday and it was kind of tough, he called san to pick him up in tears and didn't tell us anything until this morning. but he's been making progress."
