"My name is (y/n)." I held out my hand to the guy sitting beside me as we waited to be interviewed. The guy smiled, taking my hand. "I'm Luke. You're here for the intelligence officer position?" I shook my head. I have been preparing to become a spy for so long. To be able to apply for the top agency in the U.S was an honor for me.
"I am. Are you as well?" I return his smile. He chuckles, and I realize I was still holding his hand. My cheeks flush and I quickly let go. "I'm so sorry!" He rubs the back of his head and grins. "Don't be sorry. But yes, I'm here for the position as well." I shook my head, realizing that we were both fighting for the same job. I sigh, leaning back in my chair. He watched me and before I could say anything to him, his name was called. I look over at the interviewer who was very intimating as he made his way back inside the room. I lower my head, but in doing so, Luke grabs my chin and lifts it so I was staring into his eyes. My heart pounded by the sudden touch. He leaned down, his breath hitting my lips. "Good luck beautiful." My eyes grow wide and my heart pounds even faster in my chest. He lets go gently and makes his way into the room, thankfully not looking back at my flustered self.
'Wh...I....huh?' My head was spinning. I had no idea where that came from all of a sudden...but I wasn't mad about it.
I blinked back into reality. Haru was watching me with a haunted expression on his face. I coughed, trying to break whatever moment was happening and grabbed the handle on my door. "I'll see you tomorrow." With saying that, I slowly close the door on him and lean my back against the door. 'Damn it..'
The next day, I make my way to the police department to meet up with Haru and Daisuke. I stop to grab a cup of coffee at a local café. My cell phone starts to ring and I pick it up, noticing that it was Liz.
Y - What's up Liz?
L - I got news on what's going down today. Sooooo apparently the leader of this gang is shipping out a bunch of weapons tonight with only a few of his men. They are being really discreet about it so you need to stay hidden. There's a small security office at the gate you can hide in but make sure no one sees you. They don't check it.
Y - Will the leader be there?"
L - From what we know, no. But you can never be too careful.
Y - Thanks Liz. I'll keep you updated.
L - Ok. SO now that the business talk is out of the way...tell me about Daisuke and Haru.
I roll my eyes and move the phone away. She always wanted full details when it came to men. I shook my head, placing the phone back on my ear.
Y - There's nothing to say...I gotta get going.
L - Wait!! I know y....
Before she could finish, I hang up on her. She would never hang up if I hadn't. I take a sip of the coffee and continue to walk down the street towards my destination. A car horn beeps at me and I look to see Daisuke sitting in his very expensive car. He pulls over to park, lifting his sunglasses off his face.
"Need a lift?" He asked.
I huff to myself. I didn't want to embarrass him in front of these people...so I walk over and get into the passenger seat. He puts his sunglasses back on and drives back into the street.
"Why are you walking?" He asked. I take another sip of my coffee, avoiding eye contact with him.
"It's Japan. I wanted to experience it fully."
He huffs, leaning back a little in his seat. "You never been here before?"
I shook my head. "No. This is one place I haven't traveled to yet. But I always wanted to."
Still avoiding eye contact, I notice from my peripheral vision he was staring at me. I turn my head to stare back and frown.
"Please focus on the road."
He grins, focusing his eyes back in front of him. I roll my eyes at his response. He was very arrogant.
We arrived at the police department. We make our way inside the building and before entering our department, we run into the man I met when I first came. Ryo Hoshino. He glances over at Daisuke and quickly turns back to me.
"Good morning Ms. (I/n). You look lovely today."
He was being flirtatious. I was flattered but wanted to stay focused for today.
"Thank you Mr. Hoshino." I say politely.
His cheeks flush a light pink. "You can call me Ryo if you'd like."
I give him a little smirk and continue walking, not wanting to linger. "I'll see you around, Ryo."
I brush past Daisuke, entering the department where I'm met with Haru. My heart thumps for a second upon seeing him.
'Huh..'
"Good morning (u/n)." He holds out a muffin to me and I generously take it. I took a small bite and moaned out loud by how amazing it tasted. I realized I was being watched by both Haru and Daisuke and my cheek flushes slightly.
I make my way to the table in back and sit down, grabbing my laptop from my bag. Turning it on, I decided to catch up on a couple of other small cases I had paperwork on. Haru and Daisuke start arguing by the doorway, making me chuckle to myself.
'They act like a married couple.'
Haru walks over and takes a seat in front of me. I look up from my screen and give him a small smile.
"Are you ready for tonight?" I ask him.
"Yeah. I'm a little nervous though. I never imagined I would be working with a professional like you."
I close my laptop and curl my hands together onto the table. "I may be good at my job, but I have my flaws like everyone else."
Haru chuckled, leaning back into his seat. "I highly doubt that."
'If only you knew..'
