Love At First Sight - Beau Bennett

Beau's POV

After everyone came over to the new house, Danielle and I just chilled out watching films and talking. In the morning, I had to leave to go to practice. Like usual, Brooke was awake at 8:30 but Dan was still sleeping.

"Daddy, can you just stay here?" She asked making me chuckle. We literally have this conversation every time I have practice.

"Brooke, you know I can't. Let's get you bad to bed ok?" She sadly nodded and as soon as her head hit her pillow, she was fast asleep. I went downstairs, grabbed a slice of toast that I had made myself, picked up my keys and phone before getting into my car and driving off. I pulled up at the arena, got out and went into the locker room to see a few of the guys getting changed.

"Hey sunshine. How's my sister?" Sid asked.

"She's great. She was up at like 6 with morning sickness again but, she hasn't had mood swings yet." He started laughing.

"I feel sorry for you. I remember her when she had Brooke. What did she keep telling you?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

"She kept telling me that it was my fault she was pregnant and that she wished she didn't love me." I told them as I remembered. It sounds harsh but I found it quite funny. Mainly because she would those things and then be like 'you know I didn't mean them Beau, oh my god I'm such an idiot.' And things along those lines.

"I could barley put up with her normally, I couldn't imagine trying to put up with her when she's pregnant." Sid then said. "God she was a pain in the ass." We all laughed, knowing that he loved her really.

"No she wasn't." Geno then spoke up. "She was darling when she lived with me." He then added.

"That's because she was saving her attitude and annoyingness for me." Sid tried to get his point across but it really wasn't working.

"Hey, Sunshine." Letang called out making me look over to him. "How come you didn't go on a honeymoon?"

"Dan didn't want to go. I wasn't particularly worried about going because she's obviously pregnant so it was really up to her." He nodded and smiled.

"Brooke was really good the other night. Catherine was over and she ended up baking with the kids."

"Well, Brooke loves you guys." He smiled and we made our way into the ice. We did the drills and everything we needed to do before going to get changed and going back home. I pulled up at the driveway and saw Brooke looking out the front window. She had learnt what time I come home so she always waited. I opened the door and walked into the house to be attacked on my legs by Brooke. I picked her up and she giggled as I walked over to the living room with her. I put her on the couch so she could continue to watch one of her kiddy programs. I heard Danielle come down the stairs and after a while, she was sat next to me.

"Hey Beau. How was training?" She asked me.

"It was alright. It was quite funny." She smiled at me and I smiled back.

"I have my scan soon. Can you drive me?" She asked.

"Of course. You know that I'm going to be there with you right? I am the father after all." She started laughing and we made our over to the hospital for her scan. We had to take Brooke with us but we checked and were aloud to take her. We checked in and we were seen quite quickly. The other day, we had to sit down and explain to Brooke that her mommy was pregnant, she was extremely excited and can't wait to have a brother or sister. Danielle had to lie down on the bed and the doctor put the gel stuff on her stomach. I was sat on the chair next to her, she was holding my hand, and I had Brooke on my lap. The doctor that we had today was the same one that we had when Dan was pregnant with Brooke. She was so nice and friendly.

"So. I guess you're back for round two." She said making us laugh.

"That we are." Dan replied as Doctor Carmichael looked at the screen. She moved the scanner around Dan's stomach and after a few minutes, she turned the screen around to show us.

"And that, is your baby." She spoke as she pointed to the shape on the screen. I say shape because it really didn't look like a baby. It was fascinating how the baby grew.

"See that right there Brooke?" I asked Brooke as I leant forward slightly to point at the screen. She nodded and I smiled down at her. "That's your baby brother or sister."

"Really?" She asked. I nodded and she squealed slightly. "I want to meet them!" She added.

"You can in a few months baby." Danielle replied making her sulk slightly. "Is everything alright though Doctor?" Danielle asked.

"Everything seems fine. The heartbeat is normal and the size is normal for one at this stage. Everything is wonderful Mr and Mrs Bennett." We both smiled at her and Danielle got cleaned up before we headed off home. She had a photo of the scan and sent it over to Sid who was over the moon. He was amazing with both Brooke and obviously his daughter, so he was super excited for this baby. We went back to the house and Brooke went running upstairs probably to get changed because she had her first hockey practice today and she was extremely excited. I walked over to Danielle and hugged her before kissing her temple.

"I'm so glad that the scan went well." She muttered making me chuckle slightly. "I really did think something your be wrong."

"Why's that?" I asked as Brooke ran down before picking up her sticks.

"I'm not sure. I just had a feeling." I kissed her before we made our way out to the rink to watch our daughter's first ever hockey practice. That would have topped off the perfect day for me. I've learnt that our new baby was doing fine and I get to see my daughter doing something that I have loved for my whole life. I have the perfect family.
