Love At First Sight - Beau Bennett

Eight

I was sat at Beau's apartment on my own as Beau had a game. My due date was around the corner and I was getting in a lot of pain. The Pens were playing Toronto and I was watching it on the TV. It went to the period break and I stood up when I felt something weird. Oh my god. My waters just broke. I rang up Beau but he didn't answer so instead I rang Randy to tell him.

"Danielle I really can't talk."

"No. Randy. Please. I need you to tell Beau Bennett. My waters have broke. I'm going to the hospital soon."

"Ok. Danielle calm down. I'll tell Beau. I'll tell Sid too. " I hung up and rang the hospital for them to come to Beau's. As I was waiting for the ambulance I began watching the game again to see Randy go over to Dan Bylsma. Dan then went to Beau and Sid and Beau ran off the bench and into the changing rooms.

"We've just been told that Penguins forward Beau Bennett has had to leave immediately as his girlfriend is currently in labour." The announcer said. The ambulance turned up and took me to the hospital and they put me to a room.

"Miss Crosby, you are 2 cm dilated." I nodded and stated getting into more pain as I was having a contraction. "Do you need anything?"

"Can you see, if my, boyfriend is there?" She nodded and walked out. I was getting further and further dilated and Beau wasn't here yet.

"Danielle, your ready." The doctor said.

"No. I need Beau." I screamed as the door opened.

"Sorry I'm late." Beau said out of breath.

"Get here now please."

A few hours later.

Our baby girl was born and I was holding her. Beau was sat on the bed next to me and stroking her cheek. The doctor walked in and Beau smiled.

"Can you take a picture please?" The doctor nodded and took Beau's phone. We smiled and she handed the phone back. "Do you want to know her name?" I nodded "I was thinking Brooke."

"Brooke? I love it."

"Really?" I nodded and Beau held little Brooke. "Hello Brooke. Your so beautiful." He smiled wider and kissed her so I took a photo of them and sent it to Sidney.

"Because you had such a smooth pregnancy and labour, you may go home." I smiled at Beau and he got out of bed and placed Brooke in her carry case thing before putting a blanket over her. "Have you thought of a name? I heard you saying Brooke?" The doctor asked making me and Beau nod. "So it's going to be Brooke Crosby?"

"No, Brooke Bennett." She noddded and said goodbye before we started to get ready. "Wait Beau. I need to change her pyjamas." I said getting Brooke out of the carry seat. I placed her on the bed and changed her out of the clothes that the hospital put her in and put her in a onesie that Beau's mum bought her. I placed her back in her carry seat and Beau picked it up along with my bag because he wouldn't let me carry it. He placed the bag over his shoulder and took my hand in his free hand. We walked out of the hospital and there were many photographers and reporters. Beau and I just carried on walking and when we got to his car, he put Brooke's car seat in the back and I sat next to her. We put the seat belt around her seat and Beau got in the drivers seat. He started driving back home but I realised that he was heading the wrong way.

"You ok back there?" Beau asked.

"Beau, this isn't the way to your apartment." I said looking at all of the new surroundings.

"Yes it is."

"No, it's defiantly not." He laughed and carried on driving. A while later we turned up at a random building. "Beau. Where are we? I'm actually quite scared now."

"Don't be. I bought a new place that was child-friendly." He smiled and got out of the car before picking up Brooke's carry seat. I followed him after picking up my bags. "It's kinda pointless but I'm going to ask you anyway. Will you move in with me?" I nodded and he leant over to me and placed a kiss on my lips. "I love you Danielle."

"I love you too." We made our way up to a really nice apartment. It had an amazing view of the arena and the rest of Pittsburgh and it was really big. "When did you get this done?" I asked looking at the newly decorated nursery.

"When you were in Toronto, it was after we found out about the baby. I got some of the guys to help whenever I was down with you." He placed Brooke in her cot and he hugged me. I hugged him tightly and he chuckled slightly.

"I didn't realise how hard this is going to be." I muttered.

"Don't worry babe. We are going through this together. The end result will be beautiful." I looked up and him and kissed him before pulling out of the hug to check out the rest of the place. It was stunning. "Do you like it?" I nodded and walked into the kitchen. "Are you in pain?"

"No I'm just hungry." He laughed and went out of the kitchen. I decided to make myself some pasta so I went into the living room to ask Beau if he wanted any but he wasn't there. I walked into the bedroom and he wasn't there either so I walked to Brooke's nursery to see him sat by her cot smiling. "Beau." He turned to face me and smiled as he held his daughter's hand.

"Do you want any pasta?" I asked making him nod. "Please don't wake her." We both chuckled and I walked out to finish the pasta. After a while Beau walked back out again and he still was smiling. "Your happy today aren't you Sunshine."

"Well Dan, you've literally made me the happiest man alive. A few months ago, before I found out about Brooke, I didn't want kids. I was too scared that I wouldn't be a good father. I mean, of course I'm still scared of that now, but as long as I have you as her mother, I know that we will raise her to be the best girl ever." I teared up and hugged him before he kissed me. Today was the best day ever.
