I don't think I've felt any positive feeling envelope my heart since Len. I hadn't felt a speck of joy or happiness for over two years. My smiles held weight of sadness beneathe it.I used to be happy and you could have even labeled me as "happy go lucky" types. I was never popular and I was never even those types that craved attention. I was happy being with myself in my own bubble and I never bothered anyone. My love life used to never exist in high school and I wasn't a tiny bit sad about that. I just happened to be one of those girls who craved freedom. It felt nice to be myself and I turned a blind eye to all the judging stares. People would say piles of shits about me and I wouldn't give a damn about it. I was one of those types of girls who always smiled no matter what the circumstances were. I was my happy self always as I yet again was one of those girls who believed the good in everyone. I wasn't gullible or naive but I used to believe that everybody has a story behind their personality.
Then Lennox barged into my life and broke my bubble. I felt love for the first time and I thought that I had him figured. He was perfect and it almost took about three months of him courting for me to say yes. Lennox was pretty popular in college as he was one of the "band" guys. He used to be the lead singer of the band called Mysticity. He was attractive and all girls swooned over him. He wasn't a player or a rebel. He kept to himself and had made lots of fans within Columbia. He was passionate about music and he sang from his soul.
We met during his concert. I liked their music and had gone to their local concert. After the concert was over, I had waited for a taxi cab to take me back to my dorm room. That was the time when a smoking Lennox sat next to me in one of the street benches. He hadn't initiated the conversation and instead I did. I couldn't bear the smell of the cigarettes and I had told him to stop it. That was the time he looked at me with sad eyes.
That started our journey. That started my journey of destruction. He wasn't perfect as he seemed as he had a bad childhood. His home life was worst as he was abused. Maybe that's one of the reasons why he wanted the same fate for me.
"Earth to Debby!!" Flynn and Genie screamed in unision instantly breaking me from my thoughts.
"What?" I playfully glared at them.
They both chuckled. Flynn had carried Genie on his shoulders and they apparently were all buddy-buddy today. Flynn seemed relaxed and chilled as if nothing could bother him. He had a huge grin on his face and he was staring intently at Regen. That girl was a bundle of joy.
We were currently walking down the streets of Hollywood Walk of Fame. I had also wanted to visit here and I really dreamed of coming here since childhood. When I was three or four, I was convinced that I wanted to be an actress. I used to participate in local plays and theatres. But my interest in acting and drama soon faded as my fascination for poems and books overtook it.
A part of me came back to life as my insides were lit with a feeling. It was a positive feeling. I felt my old happy self emerge from the dark and a childish and dreamy look encompassed me.
"This is so good. Look at that pink star. It says 'Kermit the frog'. That's one of my favorite characters." Genie gushed and Flynn and I shared a look.
We began strolling through different stars. My eyes brightened once they landed on the pink star holding Audrey Hepburn's name. She was my favorite actress growing up.
"We need to take a picture of the star. Can I have your phone?" I asked Flynn. My cell phone was lying in my pocket dead.
He pulled his phone out and took a picture of the star. He cast a look at me. "You want me to take your picture?"
