I always believed in Afterlife. You could call me stupid or be on the same line with me.
But the truth was life in the world was plainly ruthless and a mere torture. It was like a cycle of short term happiness and prolonged disappointments. It was full of trials. Nothing was a fair game. Anybody could be anybody. And that included being a monster, too.
To me, Life was a beautiful lie.
Truth hurts a lot but doesn't hurt as much as uncovering a lie would.
And I had just got the bitter taste of it. Life was a cruel joke in actuality. Why did I have to keep getting strong and wage a war against life when I already know that it's going to end someday? Why fight when world meant nothing to me.
I wanted to be dead because I knew that there'd be a life after death. Maybe that life would be just and fair. Happy and peaceful. Maybe I would have found a home. A home where I truly belong to. Where I could be on my own and where shadows of your past fade and perhaps where my skin would gleam but not with scars.
What I did fail to realize was that life could always change. Like how you change or people change and honestly, that's the scariest part. Change.
I was beginning to like living a lot. I mean, life is a heaven when you have beautiful people in it. And surprisingly, mine was the same case.
Maybe now I do believe in the popular saying that 'every cloud has a silver lining.'
Oh lord, I was being cheesy.
I giggled out of nowhere and Flynn elevated his eyebrows looking at me as he drank his cup of coffee. "Is everything okay? Should I be worried?" His tone was playful.
"Quit it. I am just happy, that's all." I said with a smile poking out of my lips.
"That's good." He took a chug of his coffee and rested his gaze on me. "I am gonna meet my lawyer. I am a nerve wreck already."
"Don't be. C'mon." He nodded his head and stared at something distant.
A moment later, he went to his bedroom for a change of clothes when Genie woke up and smiled at me as she sat in the stool.
Her eyes looked drowsy but her smile was still intact.I greeted her. "Good morning, princess. Sleep good?"
"Yeah, I saw a real genie in my dream." I was now used to her obsession with anything magical or fairy tale.
I handed her a glass of milk as I made myself comfortable by leaning on the countertop.
"Princess Genie, you are awake!!" I heard Flynn say and I turned to look at him.
I did a doubletake as my eyes roamed over his attire. He was in one of those formal shirts which was draped with a suit. His hair was neatly combed but still had the messy edges. He looked every bit CEO-ish and he had an aura around him which practically screamed money.
In one word, he was gorgeous.
He was then smirking. Maybe he caught me.
