|N I N E|our Party

Jenna and Parker were filthy rich. I guess it shouldn't come off as a surprise since they did live in Beverly Hills. Unlike the rest, snobbiness did not live in their blood. They were uber nice and friendly to strangers like us.They lived in a two story house which had red brick walls all across. It looked very cosy and homey. I expected it to be a mansion but I guess they were very much into "keeping your foot on the ground". I noticed a small hut on the other side of the house and a large garden which had a few play slides and swings. It really did stuck out from the other ultra luxurious larger-than-life mansions.
Parker and Jenna led us to their little paradise. I clung on to Flynn's arms putting on 'the couple show'. Genie was so occupied with Macy enough to notice.
"Right, so lets get dressed to this stupid party." Jenna rolled her eyes dramatically."I apologize for tagging you guys along with us but I really don't wanna go for this insane party where half of the people are gonna look at at you with scrutinizing eyes judging your every move and oh god, even their smiles look like something is crawling behind their backs. It's so infuriating." Jenna huffed in annoyance.
"Babe, you are rambling." Parker looked at her in amusement. I bit back a smile.
"I am really sorry. It's just that I really appreciate you guys coming to this horrendous party but I guess the kids will enjoy. And you know, kids happy, we happy." She threw a brightest smile in our direction as if convincing us to come.
"It's no problem. Who doesn't like parties?" Flynn shrugged it off.
I don't. I silently added in my head.
"Okay. No wasting time. C'mon." Jenna took me to what I thought was her own personalized room with bookshelves covering the walls as well as a large wardrobe on the other side of the room.
She proceeded to open her wardrobe which I now realized was the walk in closet. "Uh. This is all I have." She had about a hundred dresses locked inside along with the never ending collection of wedges and stilettos.
"Wow. You do have an amazing taste." I roamed my eyes all over it.
"Well my mom sure does. She is a fashion designer and she 'lives and breathes in fashion'. But I am nothing like her." Jenna explained as she smoothed her hair with her fingers.
A few minutes later, we were all ready for the party. I was dressed like a doll and my unkempt auburn hair was now curled. I had donned a pale sky blue sundress which came just above my knees. Jenna had applied all sorts of make up on my milky skin in spite of my protest.
"You look so gorgeous." Jenna gushed like a little girl.
I looked at her funny as I took in her appearance. With her dark coffee brown hair, a pair of dazzling aqua blue eyes, ruby tinted lips and a flowing floor length pasty cream evening gown, Jenna looked ravishing."You don't believe me. Go check yourself out. Here."
She led me to her bedroom mirror. I saw my reflection staring back at me and I did not look "gorgeous". I had an undeniable glow on my face, a kind of an indication of inner happiness. But "gorgeous" and me somehow never belonged in the same sentence. I could never accept myself as pretty. It wasn't that I was ugly. I never saw myself in the beauty light. As long as I was myself, I was content.
"I'm gonna tell you gal!! The moment Flynn puts his eyes on you, he would never be able to look away and you could very well expect Baby number two."
Oh my god.
I wanted to barf.
Redness colored my cheeks as I gulped nervously. "No!! We...we are good with just one." I averted my eyes as I spoke.
