"When will I see my mum and dad?" The six year old next to me asked breaking out in whimpers. I wrapped an arm around her trying to cheer her.

"Soon."

She kept quiet as she looked out of the window. Flynn and I had found her yesterday during the fire. The sight of her struggling to find her parents made my insides burn with a kind of unknown nostalgia. I pictured myself in her shoes and I couldn't bring myself to leave her. I did not want her to be orphaned like me. It was a weird feeling but I was determined to help her find her parents.

We were going to the police station to report her missing parents. Flynn wasn't so keen on the idea but after minutes of convincing, he finally gave in.

We reached the police station after a fifteen minute drive. I hopped out of the car picking the little girl in my arms. I glanced at Flynn and held his hand as we walked to the station. A ginger man in his midnight blue uniform was sitting by the table. There were also others who looked very busy in their works. We approached the ginger man who had a thick stern moustache and as if aknowledging our presence, looked up from the file he was working on. He gave us a serious look and I gulped in fear. I was always scared of cops. "What do ya' fellows want?" He had a thick southern accent.

"Um.."I began.

"We actually wanted to report her parents missing." Flynn spoke pointing his eyes towards the six year old girl.

"Where would ya' find her?" He narrowed his eyes sceptically.

"There was a fire in Silverstone Hotel that we were living in and we found her crying unable to find her parents. So we took her with us. "

"Well, did ya'll ask the hotel 'bout her parents?"

"No. There was chaos everywhere."

" 'Kay." He went near the girl next to me and asked, "What 'd your name be, lil' gal?"

She looked up wiping the tears from her eyes. "Genie."

"Genie? Kid, I asked your real name not the magic thang."

The girl looked scared and I slumped to her level putting a hand on her shoulders. "He's asking your full name." I said in a gentle voice.

She looked at me and quietly said in my ears. "Regen Wiese Braun."

I nodded and stood up. "Her name is Regen Wiese Braun."

"Alright. So ya'll could file a missing case and we fellows would look for her parents, 'kay?. If we find them, we would giv you a call. So put your phone number and her parent's name out here." He bought a paper and gave it to us.

Flynn looked at Regen and went next to her. "What's your mummy and daddy's name?"

"Margo and Gustav Braun."

"Okay." He wrote their names on the paper.

We were prepared to leave when the ginger haired Inspector called us. "Wait. Before ya' leave, I wanna ask some questions to the girl."

He came to where we were standing and looked at Regen."Where did you find your parents last?"

Regen clutched my hand tight. "Me and Daddy had gone to the Ice cream parlor to get some smoothies. Mummy wanted to come but she was feeling sick so she didn't. We came to our hotel room and Mummy was having high fever. We were eating ice cream and then, there was smoke coming out from the door. Daddy told me to run and I ran. But after I ran, I looked back but he wasn't there.....he s-said he would be the-ere bbut he w-wasn't." She was full on crying.
