Nathan's POV
Zane and I had wonderful tour around the mansion. We had to act as most natural at it, as possible. Firstly I went to my room.
I check every drawer but nothing, under the bed or behind the bed rest, nothing, the closet, looking for hidden places but none was there.
I walked into the bathroom checking if anything was there but no. My room was empty, code not found. So I went to the first floor. I rushed to the hall as no one was around, walking in.
But it was deserted. I put my hands on my hips thinking for a bit. What were we looking for? Numbers? Letters?
"Nathan, what were you thinking?!" I shouted at myself, not only I have to trick the kidnapper but solve my own riddles. Did I really want everyone here to die? As I made sure it would take time. No matter what I had to find it.
I walked into laudry room. There were dresses hanging, but I couldn't see anything, no signs at all. I skipped nursery as I didn't like that place.
Walked into studio with heavy feet as this were I first got sick, this time it should be fine, right? I looked around noticing few new notes in the room.
"This must belong to Henry." I looked at the music he made, what was he writing, war music? Whatever floats his boat. Opening the drawer I found my watch in, to see nothing that could help me out. Damn.
Games room didn't have anything catchy as it was only computers and arcades. I wouldn't hide it in one of the computers would I?
Nevertheless I left the room going to the art room to look at the painting that mesmerized me in the beginning. I took the painting of the wall and checked the back and saw four numbers on it. Yes, finally I found it. Taking the painting with me I went to the floor above me.
Walking the stairs I met Thomas, Lydia and Mike. "Hey, Nathan. What's the painting for?" Thomas asked as he was quick to see it.
I looked at it again. "I just like it. Taking it to my room to look at the morning or then I'm bored." I lied but hoped I didn't get caught.
"It really is beautiful." Lydia commented.
"If you excuse me." I told passing them. Good that they weren't able to see me taking it to the second floor.
I looked on the left corridor and saw Zane leaving one of the rooms. "Zane!" I silently shouted to get his attention. He looked up at me and as he saw me carrying the painting he furrowed his eyebrows.
"What's that for?" He pointed with his finger at the thing in my hands. I flipped it and showed him four numbers. His face lit up instantly.
We got inside data room, inputting the code in but the happiness we had dissapeared as the bar showed up saying it wasn't full code and it needs letters. I flopped on the chair right that second.
"You're really cruel." Zane exposed my personality but I didn't care at the moment but still agreed with him.
"Is this some kind of test?" I asked.
"At least it says we need to find letters. Well you were thorough in searching." He said meaning about the find on the other side of the painting.
"The first time I was walking around this painting already caught my eye. So after I went to the art room, decided to check behind it." I explained how I found it.
"So maybe let's leave it to your instincts. Think about everything that could be important in here." Zane pressured.
"I really can't. I don't know what I wanted." I respond and the boy nodded. We sat there in silence.
