Scarlett's POV
My mind was consumed with thoughts and memories of Ash ever since the premiere. Lizzie has been asking me questions, but I have never talked about Ash to anyone. Maybe talking about her will help.
I decided to call Lizzie to come over for a girls night. Colin and I have been struggling since I told him I wasn't ready for marriage, and frankly I needed to get some things off my chest, and I knew Lizzie won't judge me.
Lizzie arrived at the house at little after 7pm carrying two bottles of wine and snacks. I had to laugh at her for her quirkiness.
"You sounded down on the phone, so are you going to tell me what's bothering you?" Lizzie asked, sitting down.
I sighed, and tears started to form. "Lizzie, I don't know where to start. My mind has been so consumed the past month, I just can't get my memories of her to go away, and I don't even know if she survived. That's the part I can't accept." I said, letting the tears flow.
"Scarlett, I don't understand your connection to her. Why is she so important to you? I know you said she was one of Adrian and Vanessa's best friends, but I don't understand." she said.
"She was my first love," I said quietly. "Lizzie, I've never told anyone about Ash, or the relationship we had, not even Hunter. It never mattered what I was doing, where I was, Ash always managed to make me smile. She was different, she was gorgeous, and kind and she made me feel things I've honestly never felt with anyone else." I finished quietly.
"Tell me about her," Lizzie asked quietly.
I smiled thinking back. "She had the most beautiful eyes, they were Amber, and they sparkled when she smiled. I met her when I was 7, she was playing with Adrian and Vanessa, and she saw Hunter messing with me. She walked over, took my hand, and told Hunter to be nice. She had no idea at the time I had hit Hunter and he was defending himself." I said, laughing at the memory.
"She had younger twin sisters, so she knew how they could be. We would gang up on poor Hunter. She would laugh, shake her head, and walk away telling us one day he would be bigger than us. She was right," I said.
"Oh lord, I can only imagine you and Hunter as kids. MK and Ashley used to gang up on me, shit, they still do." Lizzie said laughing.
"Oh, don't get me wrong, Ash gave me hell. I spent the better part of my life thrown over her shoulder staring at her ass. She was forever getting me out of trouble." I said.
"When did you fall for her?" Lizzie asked me.
"I'm pretty sure I fell for her when I was 11 years old, and I saw her naked the first time." I said blushing.
"Do tell," Lizzie said, sipping her wine.
"We were notorious for just going into each other's rooms without knocking, and Ash had had a soccer game that day, and when she got home, she went up to shower. Her Mom asked me to go get her, and I walked in on her walking out of the bathroom. That's when I found out she was intersex. She was so embarrassed, and I just couldn't stop staring at her body." I said.
"Wait, intersex? She has a penis?" Lizzie asked.
"She sure did. She begged me not to tell anyone. It bothered her that she was different, but her parents accepted her and encouraged her. You would have loved her Lizzie. She was one of a kind." I said, spacing out completely.
"Scarlett, you ok?" Lizzie asked.
"Just remember our first kiss, it was a week before Ash's 18th birthday." I said, memories taking me back.
