Scarlett's POV
Rose had us up early this morning. She literally jumped on Ash and I to wake us up. Her little smile and giggles made us laugh.
We are currently on our way to Ash's parents house for breakfast. I can't wait for them to meet Rose, and for Rose to meet them.
As we pulled up to the gates, I saw Sophia and Robert sitting on the porch, drinking their coffee. It's so peaceful here. Ash got out first, coming around to open my door, then getting Rose out. Rose was being shy, and cuddled into Ash.
"Good morning Scarlet, Ash. Who is the beautiful little girl?" Momma Soph said, smiling at Rose.
"Can you tell her your name, baby girl?" Ash asked softly.
"I Wose." she said, quietly watching Ash's Mom.
"Well, hi there Rose. I'm Sophia, Ash's Mom and this is Robert, Ash's Dad."
Rose smiles at her. "Me Ashy." she said, playfully.
"Are you hungry, little Rose? I made pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs." Momma Sophia said to her and she nodded her little head in response.
I look over at the General. I've always called him the General, not even sure I knew his name was Robert. He is watching Ash with Rose, as Ash follows her Mom to the kitchen.
"She is the spitting image of you, you know that. Sit with me Scarlett, how are you?"
Sitting next to him, I took his hand in mine, smiling. "I'm doing good, General, better now that I have Ash back in my life. How are you, General?"
"Oh Scarlett, I'm doing good. I have my good days, and I have my bad ones. How old is your daughter?"
"She will be 5 in August, sir."
"She seems attached to my daughter, is she Ash's?"
"No sir. I had her with my ex husband, Romain. We have shared custody, and he has met Ash. You see sir, I've always told her stories of Ash, so she has always known who she was, but until 2 days ago, had never met. She is obsessed with Ash in her dress blues." I said, laughing.
"Sounds just like her Mom, you were the same way. I'm glad you found your way back to each other. You have always been my favorite." He said looking into my eyes.
"Thank you General." I sat with tears brimming. I leaned over and hugged him. "Ash said you have some health issues, but you seem to be faring well."
"It's early onset Alzheimer's, but I seem to be doing well. I get lost someday, but so far, so good. Come my dear, before your better half, and my new granddaughter eat all the pancakes, let's join them." He said.
I helped him up, and walked into the house together. The sight in front of us made us giggle. Little Rose was helping Sophia flip pancakes, and Ash had flour all over her face.
As I help Robert to his chair, Ash comes over, kissing my cheek, leaving a smudge of flour. "Ew, REALLY Ash??" I said, lightly slapping her on the arm. She excuses herself to go clean her face, while I sit at the table watching Rose and Sophia.
Once we had eaten, Ash and I cleaned the kitchen. We walked out to the porch, to find Rose curled up on Robert's lap. His arms wrapped protectively around her, his chin resting on her head. I took out my phone, snapping a few photos. My heart was so full.
We spent the day with her parents. Ash played chess with her Dad, while Rose observed from her PopPop's lap. He explained each move to her with ease, and even allowed her to move a piece here and there.
