Chapter 20 - Confrontations

Scarlett POV

I was getting a little nervous. I had talked to Momma Soph and asked if I could invite Hunter, Adrian, and Vanessa. She said the more the merrier. Why am I nervous? Cause Ash hasn't seen them in years.

Currently Ash and Alex are working the grill, chatting, and just being goofs. I missed this side of her.

"You're staring, Johansson," I heard Lizzie say beside me.

"Can you blame me?" I replied, laughing

"What's up Scar?"

"I invited Hunter, Vanessa and Adrian to join us tonight. They are almost here, and I'm a little nervous as to how Ash will react. She hasn't seen them in years, and honestly, I'm nervous."

"They will be fine, Scar, so will you. Stop worrying."

"Come on, Olsen. Let's go sit with the General, and wait for everyone."

As we walked through the house, we checked with Momma Soph to see if she needed any help. She informed us that everything was taken care of, handed both of us a cup of coffee, and told us to relax.

We walked out to the front porch, seeing the General lounging in his chair, eyeballing his next move against his nurse.

"I must say Carmen, you have me backed into a corner, but a good soldier knows no defeat." he chuckles as he makes his move, "Checkmate my dear."

Carmen sits back and laughs. "General Summers, you are something else. I had you."

"Better luck next time my dear."

"Let's get you your meds, and get you ready for dinner. You have had a busy weekend," she said, helping him into the house.

As they left, I saw the gate opening. I took a deep breath, as I recognized Hunter and Adrian's cars. Standing up, I walked down the steps to greet my siblings.

"Hey Baby bro," I said, embracing Hunter. "Glad you could make it."

"I'm still taller....."

"I'm still older..."

"God, will you two stop, it's three fucking minutes." Adrian said, walking up to me

"Three important minutes...."

"You have issues...."

"Leave your sister alone, let her have her three minutes." I heard behind me.

"Mom, what are you doing here?"

"Vanessa said they were coming to see you, and I thought I would join them. When did you buy this property, or is this Lizzie's new place?"

"Scar, who's here?" I heard from the porch and saw Ash and Sophia standing side by side

"Well, Melanie Sloane, come give me a hug, I haven't seen you in ages." Sophia said, smiling.

"Hello Sophia, I assume this is your home?"

"Yes, Robert and I bought this when he retired from the Marines. Come on in, let me get you a beverage while the kids catch up."

I watched my Mother walk towards Sophia, her and Ash haven't stopped looking at each other.

"Hello Ashlyn."

"Ms. Sloan."

Sophia disappeared into the house with my Mother, leaving Ash standing there looking at us

"As I live and breathe, Ashlyn, God, it's so good to see you." Adrian says embracing Ash.

"Adrian, God it's been what, 18 years? Oh my God, Vanessa, look at you? You are stunning!! Ahh, Hunter, still being henpecked by your sister and my sisters I see?"
