Ash POV
As I stood waiting for Kevin Feige, I looked out over the Marvel Studio lot, imagining all of the productions that had taken place. I had no idea they had studios here in New York. I guess it shouldn't surprise me, this is Marvel.
"Ashlyn, I'm so glad you were able to join me here today. Did you enjoy the premiere?"
"Please call me Ash." I said, as I shook his hand. "It was fantastic! Thank you so much for inviting me. I have always been a huge Marvel fan."
"Follow me, I have several people I would like you to meet, we are currently in contract negotiations with both, one for a solo movie, the other for a new limited series to be featured on Disney's new streaming platform. Right in here." He stepped aside as I walked into the room. I was met with a gasp, as I stared into the same green eyes that broke my heart years ago.
"Ashlyn?!?!"
"Hello Scarlett, been a long time, and Ms. Olsen, I presume? It's a pleasure to meet you." I said, smiling at the younger actress. I turned to look at Scarlett, and I swear I saw fire behind those emerald green eyes.
"Hello?!? 18 years and all I get is a HELLO?!?"
"I take it you both have met," said Kevin.
Facing Kevin, "Yes, Scarlett and I grew up together. Her brother, Adrian, and sister, Vanessa, were two of my best friends. We lost touch after I was deployed." I stated, turning back to face Scarlett as her hand connects with my cheek, drawing a gasp from Elizabeth and a stunned look from Kevin.
Laughing, I rubbed my cheek. "I probably deserved that. Kevin, Ms Olsen, would you be so kind as to excuse us, Ms. Johansson and I need to have a private conversation." I can see the tears forming in her eyes, as I see her look at Lizzie and nod. Lizzie and Kevin both exit the room and close the door.
Her voice cracks as she goes to speak. "YOU, YOU promised me you would come back?!?" Tears now freely flowing down her cheeks. "YOU PROMISED!!!"
I noticed she was fiddling with something around her neck, but I couldn't tell what it was. "I did come back, Scarlett, 9 months later. I came home, expecting you to rush into my arms, only to find out you have left for Japan with some guy, which explained why your letters stopped coming. Your Mom told me you were happy. So, I decided to reenlist."
"NO, you stopped writing to me, I got a few letters, and they suddenly stopped, and that guy, was a friend that went with me to show me around Japan before we started filming. Nothing happened. He knew my heart belonged to someone else. When I came home, I found out that your parents had moved. No one ever told me you came home!!! I always assumed the worst..."
"Scarlett, do you really expect me to believe you have spent 18 years pining for me?" I scoffed. "Darlin, you're a magnificent actress, you truly deserve that Oscar nomination. I always knew you would do great things. I hear you're dating Colin Jost, the SNL funny man. Going for marriage number 3?"
"FUCK YOU!" She turned and pulled something out of her purse, and turned back to face me, holding up the worn picture of us from my graduation. "I have loved you since I was 11 years old, and I have never stopped loving you! No one in this world compares to or has meant more to me than you! I meant every word I said to you that night!! I cried for months after you left!!" She slumps down in her chair
My eyes fell again to her neck and I gasped. No, she wouldn't have kept it. I thought for sure it was gone. A soft knock at the door draws us both out of our thoughts
"Everything ok?" Asked Elizabeth.
Clearing my throat. "Ah, yes. Um, Kevin, I have the contracts for both Ms. Johansson and Ms. Olsen. I will look over them, and make sure everything is in order, and perhaps we can meet at my office later this week. I will have my secretary get in touch. If you will excuse me, I have another appointment."
