TW:blood, Major character death

Let me know if I need to add anything!

I'm counting back

"Why are you so boring? Drink up!" He shoved the drink into my hands, so I did as I was told, drinking one cup of the alcoholic beverage but soon turning from one drink into an addiction.

The number of the steps

'Always drunk' they used to tell people when describing me "Complete waste of space."

It took for me to get

Driving to a bar after a meeting, as always nobody stopped me, of course, they not only never knew what I was doing they also didn't think I would be an alcoholic I would go out early and return late after everyone was asleep. Not only going to the bar sometimes I would go out gambling, I know it's not good but grief does that to ya,

Back on the wagon of the weekend

I can't shake the feeling the cave collapse was my fault, I still shiver thinking about that call I got. He should have lived, but now he's dead.

I'll use the auto-timer to prove that
I got home with my imagination

I'd pass that cave daily just to make sure he was immediately killed rather than still suffering, he was my younger brother of course I had to make sure he was dead so I wouldn't hallucinate from the lack of sleep

If they find the body in the basement
"In the very house that she was raised in!"

He couldn't think of anything he regretted more than letting his brother go to work that day. He could've prevented this!

I'm taking down
The number of the Times

Sobbing in his room late at night, crying quietly despite the loud breathing from his hyperventilating, everyone assumed he was doing well after his brother's death, because of how well he was at hiding the same old tear-streaked face, red and puffy eyes, bags under the eyes, obvious anxiety and flinching he somehow manage to keep up the facade of being fine.

So when we get the sign
From god,

Before I realised what was happening, I had to swerve to avoid hitting the car in front of me and the sun had begun to rise, and to top it all off my gas was almost empty.

I'll be the first to call them
I'm taking back the number of the beast
Cause 6 is not a pretty number

Pulling into the closest gas station a started filling up my car watching the sunrise and getting my bearings down so I could find my way back to the statehouse.

8 or 3 are better

After my car had filled up and I had google maps pulled up I started the drive back which was about 1 hour 30 minutes-2 hours.

A is for the address on the letter

About 20-30 minutes into the drive I passed West Virginia's old mine shaft, it was still standing, unlike the one he was killed in.

To my alcoholic friends

he could've, should've, stopped him from going to the mine that day, but no, he didn't and now he was dead, "he's dead because of you, you killed him" like he needed a reminder it was his fault he was dead.

I'm trying hard
Not to be ashamed
Not to know the name
Of who is waking up beside me
Or the date, the season or the city

Everyone knew it took a toll on the economy, His brothers, and of course, the coal mining industry. Please coal was the least of their problems now, why couldn't he just switch places with his brother.

But at least the ceilings very pretty
And if you are holding it against me

Returning to the StateHouse, well into the morning, walking through the door and sneaking into his room as everyone was in a meeting, he was out as soon as his head hit the pillow.

I'll be on my best behaviour
Taking shots for Mother Nature

In his dream, he had been the one to die, his brother still alive, "safe." he smiled to himself, but West Virginia was anything but happy, he concluded he had just heard about his brother's death he didn't hear how he died.

Once my fist is in the cupboard

He saw what it had done to his brother, he was drinking, smoking, and like he was, gambling. "But it's better like this nobody liked me anyways after what I did." he kept telling himself.

Love is never falling over

Then he saw something that horrified him, his brother getting into a car crash on the way to work. But it was purposeful, he saw a tree and sped up, sped up so fast he would hit it in seconds, the worst part?

Should I choose a noble occupation
If I did I'd only show up late and
Sick,

He didn't even look fazed, the look in his eyes shocked him, he looked determined to hit the tree to die or at least try to.

and they would stare at me with hatred
Plus my only natural talent's wasted on my

His body was bloody, to put it nicely, definitely had a few broken bones and a scar that went from the corner of his eye down to his chest from a tree branch and many more cuts.

alcoholic friends

He was taken to the nearest hospital, where he was treated and barely saved, he was alive but in critical condition, and soon enough they had him stabilized he was in a medically induced coma and Kentucky was the first there along with Georiga for moral support.

My alcoholic friends

The moment Kentucky saw him he started sobbing and muttering quietly 'I can't lose you too's followed by Maryland looking way more exhausted and stressed than he had ever looked.

The party never ends

Everyone knew he wasn't going to be alive much longer, "Bullshit... BULLSHIT!" I screamed 'he can't die again.' but then I heard the sound that made my heart stop every time, that flatline of the heart rate monitor.

My alcoholic Friends

I shot out of bed after being shaken by Maryland standing by him was Kentucky and Georiga, I didn't know why but he looked panicked, as soon as I sat up he hugged me tight, I asked what was wrong and he said I wouldn't wake up for 3 hours of continuous shaking, he thought I was dead.

"That dream wasn't about West Virginia, you were the one in the hospital, Virginia."
