TW: Car accident discussed, bruises and scars discussed, impaling discussed, lmk if I missed smth
Sometimes, you look the same
Just like you did before the accident
When you're staring into space
It's hard to believe you don't remember it
Woke up in the ambulance
You pieced it all together on the driveHe recalled nothing of that day or the weeks after, he remembered the drive home and that was it, he hadn't forgotten who the others were, he just didn't remember the accident.
I know you don't remember calling me
But I told you, even then you looked so pretty
In a hospital bed
I remember you said you were scared
And so was ISo he denied it ever happening to him, he would call the others crazy. He would cover the bruises and scars with makeup to make it seem like it was a weird dream they all had.
In a stand-still on The Five, thought it was unusually early traffic
Usually, I don't panic, I just wanted to be on time
When I saw the ambulances on the shoulder, I didn't even think of pulling over
I pieced it all together late that nightThere was that little voice that told him it happened, that told him he could've died, that told him the bruises could've been the rail of a bridge.
And I know you don't remember calling me
But I told you, even then you looked so pretty
In a hospital bed
I remember you said you were scared
And so was IThere was someone with him in the hospital, but he would never admit he was in the accident. But maybe if he did this he'd get some clarity. He looked into the mirror and spoke, his voice shaking.
"What if it happened to you on a different day?
On a bridge, where there wasn't a rail in the way?
Or a neighbourhood street where the little kids play?
Or the Angeles Crest in the snow or the rain?"His voice grew louder
"What if you weren't alone?
There were kids in the car
What if you were remote?
No one knows where you are"The night haunted him
"If you changed anything, would you not have survived?"
He wasn't the one in the accident though!
"You're alive, you're alive,"
Or, was he?
"you're alive"
That's what they all told him...
And I know you don't remember calling me
But I told you, even then you looked so pretty
In your hospital bed
I remember you said you were scared
And so am IThere was a knock on his door, he opened it to reveal Virginia, probably checking in on him, "How're ya holding up Mass?"
