Gov had been... different these past few days, he was way more independent and would call for states himself, demanding their appearance, if they simply tried to tease him he would go off on them and act as if nothing happened, even Florida was nervous to joke.

Eventually, some of the states tried to confront him, about what was going on, and the answer they got wasn't the one they expected. It made them realize something... something they did.

It's time you learned a lesson
It's time that you understand
Don't ever count on anybody else
In this or any other land

Gov started, gesturing towards the table, asking them to sit so they could continue formally, and without it getting awkward.

I once hoped for friendship
To find a place among my kind
But those were the childish wishes
Of someone who was blind

As Gov spoke, the states present started to silently ask each other what he meant, was he betrayed or beaten? Starved or cheated? What did he mean?

Open up your eyes

He looked at them all, in the eyes, a menacing glare Percing their souls.

See the world from where I stand
Me among the mighty
You caged at my command

He stood up suddenly, hands on the table his voice cold and getting louder a bit. How could he get them to understand?

Open up your eyes

They would do nothing to fix it, so why were they asking.

Give up your sweet fantasyland
It's time to grow up and get wise
Come now little ones
Open up your eyes

They always had their heads in the clouds, so he had to man everyone and he was sick of it. They needed to realize that he wouldn't be here forever, they needed to be able to be independent.

We all start out the same
With simple naive trust
Shielded from the many ways
That life's not fair or just

The government's voice softened ever so slightly, as he paced around the table, trying to get them to understand where he was coming from.

But then there comes a moment
A simple truth that you must face
If you depend on others
You'll never find your place

Some of the states seemed to understand, their government was so guarded and withdrawn because of them, but others were still oblivious

And as you take that first step
Upon a path that's all your own
You see it all so clearly
The best way to survive is all alone

So he got out with it, and as the last word came out of his mouth, he started towards the door, but he paused turning back,

Open up your eyes

Tears were almost visible but he pushed them down, he couldn't show weakness, not in front of these states.

And see the world from where I stand
Me among the mighty
You caged at my command

The slower states got the hint and realized what they had done, it was unprofessional to raise his voice and such but, they wouldn't understand any other way.

Open up your eyes

He turned back to the entrance, walking out with whatever dignity he had left.

And behold the fading light
It's time to grow up and get wise
Come now little ones
Open up your eyes

He left the states there, flabbergasted, and sped out the door, into the dark streets of Washington D.C which was eerily quiet.

Open up your eyes

The states finally broke their government, and this was a mess they couldn't fix, they took his patients for granted, and now, he was gone.

Because of them.
