I can't hear over this escalating roar
In the midst of all this overwhelming pain
The screams they seem to stifle and endure
I want only the calm to remain
The crowd moves too swift
Like a rushing river it flows
They push, they shove
The sound is a mountain about to blow
There seems there is no cure
No medicine to heal what ails
I crawl across the floor as the crowd grows
I slow as they stomp, I cannot fail
I pull myself through
They trample my every attempt
I hold my head high as I go
I feel it on the tip of my tongue, this contempt
Turn it down, this noise
I want to block out all the sound
I beg and plead for someone to see
Will I lay here crushed or will I be found
When it all becomes just so much
When I cover my ears to keep them out
When every chance is broken
When only the silence can be heard over every shout
