valentine's day.
a day aromatized with vermeil roses, the jovial, sensual melody chiming the streets embellished with ornaments of hearts and cupids, while couples relished their inflorescence of relationships, or the day friendships evolved into a feeling that the word 'friendship' wasn't satisfying enough with; love.
strutting through the streets was a blonde determined of his destination. his steps, were transversing speeder, almost jogging as he hurried towards the place he was set on.
hyunjin was stoked for the arrival of this day, because this day was considered the most venerated throughout the markings of his calendar. the day which not only embellished love, but also denoted the commence of official feelings interchanged with his boyfriend.
today was their anniversary.
their first anniversary while being engaged.
hyunjin already had a sloppy smile worn on his face, despite the mask blocking its ethereality. his heart would race at every step, his expectations boosting when he visioned the reaction he'd achieve from his fiancé after receiving his present. though, he hadn't picked out exactly what to gift him with, he already knew how thrilled jisung would be despite its value.
not realizing how much of his breath had shortened after he reached the small gift shop at the corner of the street, he leaned down and pressed his palms against his knees, panting once he arrived.
quickly, and steadily, regaining his posture, he scurried into the store, examining how it's atmosphere was perfectly fitted with the theme on todays special occasion; valentine's day. it would be embarrassing if it didn't, i mean, valentine's day was the talk of the town.
"can i help you with anything, sir?"
hyunjin snapped his gaze and fixated it towards the cashier who had taken upon his presence. he smiled wittily, approaching the counter as he examined the many gifts laid out under the glass table.
the blonde pressed his lips together firm, unconsciously dragging his long, slender finger across the gifts, in hopes of something eye catching, and worthy enough of a gift to his fiancé.
not really paying attention to his surroundings, he unintentionally bumped into a shoulder, causing him to jerk away in alarm.
"shit, sorry-"
astonishment took him by surprise when his eyes landed on the shorter brunette looking up to him.
"oh, felix."
felix seemed to be just as amused on bumping into the blonde. the world is really a small place. both boys ended up exploring gifts for their beloved ones in- possibly, the smallest gift shop in town. how convenient.
"hyunjin." felix intervened. "are you here for valentine's day too?"
nodding, the two shared a small chuckle at the coincidence. that was until the dry air of felix's mouth ceased.
'i cheated..'
'i don't want to marry him..'
felix's expression dropped immensely. his feeling of bumping into a friend, now dissolved into pure pity. hyunjin keenly observing every nook and cranny of the store wasn't helping either- it just seeped more of the pitiful feeling in felix's heart. but who was he to stop hyunjin? it was no business of his to invade whatever the two had going on, and in fact he thought it would be better if hyunjin heard it from jisung himself. besides, it's not years of their relationship would break down all the years of trust they owned out to each other. hyunjin would still claim to him that it was just a faulty accuse, and felix wouldn't blame him.
