Chapter 24- Aftershock

Klaus and Bella walk into the mansion arm in arm but when they make it through the threshold, they separate as Klaus goes to pass Bella's message along to his siblings and Bella goes to tell Ellie and Kat. She finds them with Hermes and Hecate. "I see you made up with your boyfriend," Hermes comments, slightly bitterly, and Hecate elbows him.

"Again, not my boyfriend, but yes, we did makeup. He admitted he was an idiot and then I kissed him," she tell them.

"Holy shit, you gave your first kiss to Klaus?" Katherine hisses and Bella gives her a look.

"Weren't you the one that told me the only person who was better in bed than him was Elijah?"

"Yeah but that was when you had a thing for Rebekah."

"Yeah, well, Rebekah was in on the plan for Mikael to use me as bait so I've decided to let that go. Besides, Klaus said he fancied me," she says with a dreamy tone to her voice, and Ellie giggles.

"Did you just come over here to gossip?"

"Yes but not about him. I told Klaus about Esther and I'm getting that foreboding feeling again so she's definitely doing something shady with Elena. Once Klaus finishes warning his siblings, I'll stick by his side for the rest of the night, and then I'm going to tell him about my parents."

Katherine and Ellie's eyes widen as the blonde grabs onto Bella's arms. "Woah, slow down there, Bells. I get that you're happy with the way things are turning out with Klaus, but telling him about what you are could be..." she trails off, unsure how to put this delicately so Katherine says it.

"Deadly. It could be deadly. You said it yourself, all it would take is him telling Stefan or Damon and they'd kill you to protect your damsel of a sister."

"He doesn't want me dead. Learning what I am isn't going to make him want me dead me more. If he was going to have me killed he would've done it after seeing what I could do to his siblings. Besides, I'm harder to kill than I look," she assures. "I know what I'm doing, trust me." She spots Klaus and turns to them. "Kat, make sure Eli takes my queue, and El, do the same with Kol. Bekah will listen to Klaus." With that, she makes her way through the crowd and sidles up to the hybrid. "Is it done?"

"It is. It seems my brother was suspicious of her intentions. Rebekah is devastated that our mother is a liar but she agreed to trust you at my behest."

"I don't get why she doesn't like me."

"My sister is a naturally jealous person, Love. Of course she'd be jealous of someone so striking and confident," he states cheekily while Belladonna scoffs.

"Trust me, I am far from confident. I thought everyone was staring at me when I entered because I looked like a freak."

"Au contraire, Princess. It was because you were absolutely stunning. I was a fool to not ask you as my date. However, if I knew you'd wear that, my decision may have changed." Bella tosses her head back in a laugh, not noticing an angry Damon watching them after being dismissed by Elena. Or Caroline, Stefan, and Elena watching them interact either. Suddenly, a waiter comes around with glasses of champagne and Klaus takes two glasses and hands one to Bella who initially shakes her head.

"I don't really like alcohol. It lowers inhibitions and bad things happen."

"You're a vampire, Love. Your tolerance is a bit higher." She bites her lip but reluctantly takes the glass, however, the moment it touches her hand, she drops it. Klaus catches it before it hits the floor but Bella grabs his wrist.

"It's the champagne. There's something wrong with it." Klaus looks into her eyes and sees the assuredness before nodding. As he stands, he tips the glass of champagne towards his sister who gets the message as Bella takes out her phone, messaging Kat and Ellie who are quick to tell their companions. Then, as if it were a skillfully rehearsed play, each sibling pretends to take a sip while pretending they don't see Esther watching them like a hawk. Once it's done, Klaus grabs Bella's wrist and leads her away.
