...

Sabre and Rainbow both sat on the rainbow tree of life as the sun went down. All the glorious colors of the setting sky melted onto the colorful leaves gorgeously and shaded the two lovers in its beauty. Rainbow's hand was intertwined with Sabres, the feathers of his clothes soft against his skin. He could only wonder what his real hands felt like, he could only assume softer. Rainbow felt himself slowly drifting into sleep as they bathed in the warm rays. He leaned onto Sabre's shoulder as his eyes felt heavier and heavier.

The sun was so low it made the town into a silhouette. It made the view even more beautiful and unreal. Rainbow looked away from it to look at Sabre. He wasn't paying a second to the scenery in front of them, but looking at Rainbow memorized.

"You look so pretty right now, Rai," He said softly, making Rainbow smile

"Says you, handsome~," He said with a smile. He thought he was going to close his eyes, just for a moment but fell asleep on Sabre's shoulder instead. He could just barely feel Sabre shifting his arm around him before he would have drifted away too much nicer dreams. Instead, he woke up to the reality driving him mad.

Rainbow drearily opened his eyes and reawoke staring at the wooden ceiling. He sighed, remembering where he was. They had fallen asleep at the Rainbow tree way back then and woke up there. If he could go back and live in his dreams, live in those days again, he would in the blink of an eye. Nothing felt right anymore, not after everything they had built together had been destroyed. Rainbow slid out of his bed, trying to let the old memories slip away with his sleep.

He changed his clothes for the first time that month, although it was the fifth already. He wore a worn-down dark- blue shirt with grey jeans. He threw on his favorite and only jacket over top of this as well. As he did so, he heard Galaxy talking to seemingly no one outside the house. He grumbled to himself while tieing up his boots and walking out the door. Galaxy was by the ditch they used for water, taking to the fish he had caught as he fished for more. Rainbow scowled and looked around.

Sabre wasn't there, so he must have been offline. Or possibly getting more resources for his latest plan. Maybe just taking a walk, even. Rainbow decided that was a good idea. Sabre would tell him to take one if he were there, anyway. Galaxy didn't notice Rainbow leave the house, let alone notice him power walking far off to the right. Rainbow walked wherever felt right like he used to. He wandered from flower to flower, tracing the edge of a hill and then walking along on the bed of a small flowing river. His thoughts all traced back to the memories that had been so nice that now haunted his dreams. From the day they made their truce, to when Sabre first kissed him, to the time Saber stayed overnight to lay with him when they couldn't find Light. It stung so badly, especially looking at how things were going.

They had drifted since the town was demolished. As they continued, it seemed to Rainbow that Sabre wasn't as interested in him anymore. He was much more focused on his work and Galaxy, which Rainbow found fair. Sabre had vital work to do and Galaxy was an important aspect of it. What hurt him was how much he waved him to the side, even when he wasn't busy. He wouldn't really talk to him anymore, not even a "how's it been". Being this disconnected from Sabre hurt. Not to mention it was hard on him as it is losing his powers and very sense of ability so suddenly.

"He's probably had enough of me by now," Rainbow thought aloud to himself. As he walked along to the river, he couldn't help but start feeling sad. After a while of these kinds of thoughts rattling in his head, he started to slow down. He stopped and stiffly turned himself to face the river. He took a step into it, feeling his boots and jean cuffs get soaked in the flowing river. After his powers had gone, water and cold didn't feel as good as they used to.
