Authors note** Origin/Sabre fluff, requested by notherern on AO3 (: Srry this took me like an entire summer to do. As I've said, motivation has been a bitch to me, I'm hoping to pick back up when school starts. Most of this summer was spent just trying to heal my burnout and drawing(will post to the Steve Saga Headcanons book maybe?). Hope you enjoy :DD (also yes, a modern AU)

Sabre yawned as he untied the back of his apron, hanging it up on the little hook as he always did, next to the others, and readjusting where the buttons lined down his shirt. Origin stretched by the door, smiling as Sabre got the keys out of his pocket, like clockwork. They often got put together on shifts, quite comfortable with each other. Often would cover shifts and chat as they worked, sometimes topics flowing into texting one another about gossip after hours.

They walked out together, Sabre spinning at his heel to lock the door as Origin stood under the awning to wait.

Sabre paused after, as he stuffed the keys in his pocket "Hey, Gin?"

"Hmm?"

"How ya plan on gettin' home?"

"Uh..." He tilted his head "The bus, like I always do?"

"Gin, it's eleven on a Sunday, the last ran at nine."

Origin paused a moment before hissing "Fuck" under his breath.

"You could stay at mine." Sabre chuckled lightheartedly "Is just a few streets over."

"Really? If that wouldn't be a bother, can't really swing a cab right now."

"Of course, not at all!"

Walking in silence, Origin's hand tucked in his pocket as he followed beside Sabre, Sabre fidgeted with his key ring in his pocket. Every once and a while one would say something, mostly Sabre. But otherwise, they were simply too tired for conversation.

When they were not a street away from his home, it started to rain. Summer rain, the kind that flashed in and out and poured heavy. They swore as they hurried. Getting onto Sabre's street, They both paused to pant under someone's overhang.

"I thought it wasn't gonna start 'till one AM!"

Sabre coughed "Damn, someday for you, huh?"

"Mhmm"

"You can borrow some of my clothes, man, don't worry. Though, I don't think I have a shirt your size..."

"Thanks, dude..."

"Not at all, I ain't gonna let you sleep soaked."

They looked out to the downpour as it faded out. Sabre took his hand and ran before it started again quickly running onto his porch and fumbling his keys as the rain picked up again. Push it open, closing it just as quickly once Origin was in.

His cat, Cheese, ran off at the sight of the stranger.

"She'll be back once I get 'er food."

"Oh, uh... should I leave my shoes...?"

He stood awkwardly, as a puddle formed by his feet from his dripping body, work clothes sticking to both their bodies. Sabre looked down at his own dripping tracks before dully laughing.

"I'll... get towels. And yeah."

He kicked off his heeled work shoes before walking away to his room. Origin followed suit, leaving his next to the door neatly despite Sabre clearly not having a spot for shoes and having left them in the middle of the floor. Avoiding the wet spots by the door and following where Sabre seemed to turn, he was tossed a towel.
