A Dead, But Happy, Family

Authors note** Fluff - Rainbow/Blue. A short lil story. Been sitting for a bit & accidentally fed a lil bit of it into my one-shot "Sexuality" (if I remember correctly)but I didn't rlly like that one tbh.

He waited

He'd waited for a long while, with nothing else in mind. He'd waited so long for the over he once now so well. He worried his lover wouldn't remember him. Or he wouldn't recognize his lover. But he could only wait, the thought of Rainbow Steve dying left him sourly hopeful. He wanted him to live a long and lived life. But he wanted him. For him to be with him, to hold his hand, kiss his lips, and be at his side again. So much time to worry, he worried about it all till he couldn't worry about anything at all.

He talked to their friends often and the new ones he made in the afterlife. It wasn't too hard, no one has a reason to be hostile anymore, if anything avoident. It makes sense when you have to share a world with your killer for eternity, though some do reconcile with enemies, some find themselves happier with the loose ends.

Eventually, he was speaking with a friend he had made; Time Steve. They had known each other for a while, and now they sat at Blue's kitchen table to have some tea and snacks while they chatted. Somehow it was mentioned that they both knew Rainbow in their past life, though Blue found a lot of people had at least heard of the hero.

"He was an odd fellow" He'd said to Blue while nibbling on a saltine cracker "but I think something was going on in his head that I couldn't have known. He wasn't a bad person, even when he strayed away from our side"

"I guess that's one way to put him. I do love him for it though."

"I think you'd be cute together" Time mentioned

"Thank you" Blue smiled "I hope to see him again, that he's still how I remember him"

"I don't know how you knew him, but he's truly a character to know. Wish I'd known him longer, I've yet to see him again" Time said "I haven't seen a lot of the steves I've been looking for, I think I can only find them if I stop looking and just wait for us to meet"

"I've been waiting for Rain for a while" He nodded "But I can only assume he's still alive"

"No" Time shook his head "He's been dead for a bit. He died before I did, I've seen him once or twice but I must admit we were never close"

Blue was silent for a while "He's... here?"

"Yes, he is"

Blue stood up quickly "Do you have any idea where he could be?"

"I've been told his brother knows where he is"

"Oh," Blue said "Do you know who that is?"

"His name is Light Steve" Time slipped his tea "I don't know where he lives, though"

"I know him, we're good friends actually" Blue smiled brightly "Didn't know he even had a brother!"

"Are you going now?" Time asked as Blue rushed around his home, collecting seemingly random items and tossing them into his bag.

"I've waited too long to wait even an hour, Time" Blue turned to him "I can't believe I didn't know... I've known Light for so long"

"I've heard he's not much of a talk"

Blue shook his head "I've heard only a couple words from the guy"

"Ah. Well, I know he and Rainbow Steve are very close, I do believe Light prefers talking to him the most."
