"Why don't you respect me, as your boss!"

The guardian huffed, too annoyed to want another earful after criticizing Illusion's awful plan. He crossed his arm, standing his ground to Illusion. He didn't accept him as his boss, his boss was Null or "God Steve". And he was gonna be in a lot more trouble for getting stuck here than he already was. From stepping out of line too much as a young steve, which was about fifty generations ago, he was already disgraced. Getting stuck with this new steve with horrid daddy issues was going to be the straw on the camel's back.

"Oh, I'm sorry," He cooed with heavy sarcasm " You're doing great getting both our asses kicked! How great is it to know I can rely on you to turn us to toast! Toast!"

Illusion grumbled, shrinking down. "Geez, okay."

"Seriously, what do you expect? Good job Illusion! You're gonna kill us all!"

"O-okay! I get it..."

Guardian sighed, Illusion looking rather stung by his sudden snap. He only meant half of what he said, truly; although he disagreed with the motives, Illusion was rather good at achieving them. And a good boss too, he wasn't as hurtful as his actual boss. Much more forgiving, that's for sure.

"Look, I don't- You are doing good, Illusion. I know I'm harsh, but I'm just frustrated with this situation!" The Guardian put a hand on Illusion's shoulder, looking back up to him "You're doing well..."

Illusion had a look of shock on his face. He stuttered over words before giving up and looking away. The Guardian was confused as to why this didn't re-evoke the steve's cocky nature till he realized something.

"You don't get praised ever, do you?"

Illusion hummed "No... no one thinks what I'm doing is right, of course, no one will praise it!"

"Well, no," The guardian moved his right hand to Illusion's empty shoulder "But what about the praise of you directly? Everyone needs a little praise, you know."

"Well, I don't" Illusion grumble

The guardian's eyebrows raise "Oh don't you, now?"

"Nope, not. At. All."

"Mhmm." Guardian hummed "Not even of good you're doing? Of how well you've taken all the pressure? Cause you're doing very good, Illusion Steve"

Illusion let out what seemed like a squeak "s-shuddup."

"What an amazing creation. Greatest I've seen in my time." The Guardian indulged him in more, endless praise. Although he wondered if this would change Illusion for the better, feeling comforted and valued by someone at least, he mostly did it out of want. He loved the look on Illusion's face after every new thing he thought to praise of him.

Illusion hummed, heat rising to his face. But, to his horror and Guardian's delighted surprise, it wasn't the only thing the heat spreading in his body rose.

"Oh, you like like that, do you now?"

"I-" Had to be the day he wore skinny jeans.

The Guardian chuckled "So good~"

Illusion couldn't stop the automated groan from the back of his throat. He covered his mouth with his other hand, but the Guardian gently pushed it away.
