Lynn
"What's going on here?" Mrs. Emma said as she came towards us.
"We're not one hundred percent sure yet." Diana said. "She might be dead."
"Oh." Mrs. Diana said. She wasn't upset about that one bit and I couldn't lie and say that I was either. After what I've been through with this woman I couldn't bring myself to be upset about this. Once the police men came out the house they came towards us.
"I'm sorry to inform you that your aunt has passed." I hung my head as I nodded. It was sad but not to the point that it would bring me to tears.
"How?" I asked.
"We're not sure yet. She's been dead for some time now."
"Will you be able to tell me later?"
"Yes ma'am. I knew Mrs Townsend pretty well over the last few years. She was a sweet woman." I heard both Di and Mrs. Emma scuff. She was far from a sweet woman but she did basically live two different lives. Outside the house she was a complete different woman from when she was inside the house.
"Her last name is Townsend?" Di asked.
"Yes." The cop answered.
"What's your mothers last name Lynn?" I looked over at her shocked. How come I never thought to ask myself this same question. I thought for a minute.
"Williams." I answered.
"So is your real last name Williams or Townsend?" I had no idea. I didn't answer her instead I gave my attention back to the cop.
"What happens now?"
"We do an autopsy and see what is her cause of death. If she has no other family then everything goes to you." I gave a nod. After that we made or way back to the house where I begin questioning who I really was. I could do nothing but think. Why did I have the same last name as my aunt and not my mother? Why was there always questions left unanswered when it came to me? I felt myself getting a headache.
"You okay?" Mrs Emma asked.
"Yes. I just need to go lay down." I stood making my way to Di's old room. Rest should help me think better. Before I could dose off Tammi called.
"Hello?"
"How's everything going?"
"I just found some shit out. I don't know how to process it all."
"What's wrong?" I sighed.
"My mom's last name is Williams. My aunts last name is Townsend. How do I have the same last name as my aunt but not my mom? How are they sisters but have different last names?"
"Maybe they have different fathers." I sighed again.
"That's possible. But explain my last name being different from my mom's but the same as my aunts."
"That's easy. Your aunt is your fathers sister." She said and I shot straight up in bed. That explains it.
"Oh my God. You could be right. How can I not have seen this?"
