Trying to be happy.

Chapter 27:

I've been so busy with the baby and the wedding,Trina and I haven't been able to hang out.So today,we are gonna go to Louisiana and eat crawfish.We live in Beaumont so the drive was short,we drive to Seafood Palace.We are seated after about ten minutes of waiting in the front.We order to shrimp and chicken gumbos and four pounds of crawfish.
"So what are you guys having?"Trina asks smearing butter on her cracker.
"The doctor thinks it's a boy."I say she smiles.
"That's good,you both get what you want."She says just as the waitress brings up our gumbos.We thank her and dig in.
"Yeah,so we've talked about names."I say eating a shrimp.
"What are they?"She asks slurping on the broth.
"Dylan Andrew Williams."I say.
"I like that,what if the doctor's prediction is wrong."She asks.
"Nyla Amy Williams."I say,deciding just to go with the top choice.When we are finished with our gumbos,the waitress brings us our crawfish.
"Have you talked to your dad?"Trina asks peeling a crawfish.
"No,but I think I should."I say.
"Yeah,I think he was just upset."She tells me.
"What are you gonna do when we leave for Washington?"I ask her and she furrows her brow.
"Drew said you guys are staying in Texas."She tells me.
"No,we are going to WSU."I tell her.
"That's not what he told me."She says.When we finish we drive back to Texas and Trina goes out with some friends.Drew is in our room,watching television when I get in the house.
"Hey,did you guys have fun?"He asks me and I nod.
"Umm did you tell Trina that we were staying in Texas?"I ask and his face falls.
"Yea,why lie."Be shrugs.
"I thought we were going to Washington."I say sitting on the bed.
"Oh I changed my mind."He says.
"Don't you think you could have ran that by me."I say my voice raising slightly.
"Well I shouldn't have to you should trust me!"He counters.
"You promised me my future would not be jeopardized by this baby!Washington is the best school for my career!"I yell,standing up.
"Well we have to make sacrifices also!You haven't given up shit!"He yells.
"That's bull!I don't go out I don't have a relationship with my dad!The list goes on and on!What the hell have you done,worked more hours!"I yell.
"I don't even wanna look at you right now!"He yells.
"Then don't!"I yell.He walks out of the room and I hear the basement door slam.At least he didn't leave the house.I fall back on the bed and start to cry.I have to go to Seattle it is the best place for publishing.I make a quick dinner of fried chicken and mashed potatoes.I eat,before going to take a shower and going to the bathroom I take a quick shower and go to lay in bed.Sleep takes over me slowly.When I wake up Drew is not in bed and it is his off day.I guess he didn't come to bed last night.I walk out of the room to find Drew crying into his hands.He looks up at me and gets up to stand in front of me.
"Jasmine,I didn't mean the words I said."He says and I roll my eyes.
"I don't wanna hear it,I'm leaving!"I spit and start to walk away.He grabs my arm firmly,too firm.I jerk my arm away,but he grabs me again.
"Your not going anywhere,we need to work this out you are pregnant with my baby."He says,his voice is calm yet edgy.
"This is so unrealistic,we have sex once and one week later I get pregnant.What a story."I laugh at the irony.
"It is one hell of a story,but it is our story."He says and I smile.I can never stay mad at him.
"We should go baby shopping,since we know the gender."He tells me and I nod.
"Ugh it's so hard."I complain.
"What."He asks.
"Being nineteen weeks pregnant."I say and he chuckles.
"What's that like?"He asks.
"Your always tired,hungry,crying.Then to make it worse your gaining weight."I say and he makes a mock horrified expression and I laugh.
"Do you ever wish we would have the abortion?"I ask and his eyes widened.
"Of course not,I'm still scared to be a dad,but I am also happy."He tells me.Sometimes I wish I would have gotten the abortion.
"Well I'm gonna go and get dressed."I go to Trina's old room and look.She moved out,with her friend Zoey,so now we will use her room for Dylan.When we arrive at the baby store and perky brunette follows us so she can assist us.
"So hello my name is Ashley and I will help you today!"She is so perky I like her.
"Well I'm Jasmine,this is Drew,and this Dylan I say touching my stomach.
"Well nice to meet you guys have you all got anything in specific you want."She asks.
"Well no but we want blue letters that spell Dylan and a green crib.
"I can do that,follow me."She says.She stops by the letter and we pick baby blue letters that are written in cursive.When we reach the cribs and she stops.She pulls out two full cribs and three boxes.
"So if you pick of these,"She says pointing to the full crib,"You will have to order it."
"However if you get a box,you can take it home and put it together."She says and moves out of our way.
"Look Drew I like the mobile that comes with this one."I state,pointing to the one in the purple box.
"Yea that is nice."The crib is adorable and Henry Hugglemonster themed.The mobile is full of Henry and his family.We end up getting the crib and a few other little things like pacifiers and onesies until it is time to go.The price isn't bad.We stop by Taco Bell because I want a smothered burrito,three tacos,a crunch wrap,a regular burrito,and nachos.Drew never complains about the money he spends on me.When we get home,I eat while Drew puts together the crib.When I am done I put the letters up on the wall.When we are done,I write my essay for WSU while Drew does some stuff for work.We both fall asleep during our work.
